Offline | Congratulations to BMW ! Some classic mini owners hate the new mini, some owners of new MINI have had problems (which I sympathise with). BUT Hey, what a car ! Anyone, owner or not has to admit that BMW have surely moved the goal posts for the small car. Taking its design cues from the classic mini (years ahead of its time when first launched) BMW have managed to create something very special. After reading the reviews for the Cooper S and having owned a new Cooper since October I felt I had to put fingers to keyboard to show my apreciation! The cynics will say I am gushing but why not! Motoring journalists have aclaimed the car since its launch and the new Cooper S is the icing on the cake. IMHO the design is superb, I can not walk away from the car without looking back at such a superb piece of design. Bee Em have been bold enough to go into mass production with a "from the ground up" product. The interior itself is simplicity personnified, design touches usually only found from manufacturers like Audi. I am lucky enough to drive a subaru Impreza Turbo for a company car. I have raced and rallied and driven numerous vehicles. So why do I always reach for the New MINI keys? Because BMW have brought the fun back into motoring and I fully subscribe! I cannot wait to testdrive the new cooper S even though my wife would have kittens at the thought of changing the cooper after only 5 months! Other manufacturers have for now at least missed the boat, BMW have re-invented a classic, they have moved the goal posts leaving everyone else to catch up. and Oh yes, if Bee Em have a spare "S" hanging around ![]() Roblad New MINI....more than the sum of its parts. |

| Bring the noise | robin, Couldn't agree more. I am due to pick up my Cooper anyday and have been twitching with anticpation for months ! My previous car was a Rover mini Cooper. A car which I had for 2 1/2 years and loved every moment of owning. Having driven the Cooper and read about the S, BMW are doing us all proud by producing such cracking cars. It would be oh so easy to produce an averagely competent hatch and call it MINI, but the MINI is a cracker ! Just awaiting confirmation of delivery, a few more days adds to the build up ! |
