Scotland advice / help required

Can anyone give me some help with the following .......

I took delivery of my Mini Cooper in January but i assumed the car would come with an alarm as standard? - wrong im under the impression this was an optional extra like everything else with it !?
Can one be put in easily enough and am i better going to the dealer to have this done -anyone else do this-costs etc!?

also i passed on the cd player option and kept the cassette in as i have a cd player i was going to fit myself until i noticed the bright green clashed with the orange dash displays
anyone know roughly how much it is for the cd player

apart from these two things i love the car....
Many thanks

I'm sure you can get an aftermarket alarm fitted but do you really need it. I'm happy just with the immobiliser.

A CD player for MINI from the dealer is probably very expensive but they are often for sale here or on Ebay - here's one http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...ategory=32 93

Red/Black R56 Cooper Stripes, CHILLI, ASC+T, MINI HiFi, Piano Black Dash, Red Colour Line, Heated Mirrors/Jets, Spare Wheel, Smoker Pack!
Mods - Cooper S pedals, Cheqered interior mirror, chrome side repeaters

If you want the MINI Alarm fitted by a dealer it costs £225 (including VAT) for the retrofit kit and maybe a couple of dealer hours at £80+ (excluding VAT). Get an all in quote from your dealer. I find the alarm reassuring just for the comfort light alone on the end of the wiper stalk. Plus as an integrated alarm it works off your keyfob and you don't need separate plippers. Long term the alarm should be more reliable.

i wouldnt go with the std mini cd player - theres loads of much better aftermarket ones out there that blend nicely with the mini interior
