Hi, just picked up my Nov03 build mini cooper,

it has the computer button on the stalk, but no computer,

all i have is the digital speed readout and the temp,??

is there any way to activate this?? or is it never gona work!!!!

It's only a software "switch" (see our DIY on how to install your own on board computer) your dealer should be able to do this in a few minutes.

Don't worry, this is perfectly normal. I'm not sure since when, but MINIs now come with the computer button on the indicator stalk. I also didn't order the on-board computer but have got the computer button (I was hoping at first that they'd accidentally installed the computer). I suppose this makes it easier to retro-fit the on-board computer now.

If you ordered the OBC function (which I assumed you had), then there's no reason not to get the dealer to "switch it on", if not, then not likely.....

isnt thier a bypass thingymcbobtypething mentioned in the faq bits...where even if u dont have it, u can change the readout things...somit like that anyhow.

Yeh there is. It's not quite the same, but you can get some similar data.

My car is a Nov 03 build also, which is an 04 model year. As such, they have added the digital speedo, so that is why you have the button on new cars, to scroll between speedo and temp. Older ones (without the button) had no speedo, only temp.
