Just added to the miniusa.com website is the "Owner's Lounge Area".

Among the other features, the Owner's Lounge Area will offer this:

Once you place your order and get a production number you will be able to track your MINI being built and delivered online!

The tracking site does indeed work... I punched in my MINI's production number, and it says the car's parked outside Wembley Stadium with a tow truck getting ready in front.

No, just kidding. Actually it just says "en route." Took a 630K Flash file to say that, but I'm not complaining.

I am aware that BMWs have a similar build tracking device that is accessible on their website from 'owner's circle' when you type in the VIN number of the car. Is this a similiar thing?

They should embed a GPS antenna in the shipping container and show you exactly where it is. The ships, trucks and trains in the US already have this so it shouldn't be technically difficult.

I'd love to see the full transaction history, so to speak, as the car goes along. Kind of like FedEx tracking but it might look like this:
0100hrs 21-Mar Enters Paint Shop
0127hrs 21-Mar Leaves Paint Shop

Anyone know how "real-time" the status is?

IE my car has been sitting awaiting transport for some time. Anyone see their status change? I was wondering if it's real-time like Fedex, or perhaps it sits static until someone gets around to updating it? Perhaps my car is sitting in the middle of the Atlantic now!

I think it must be the same thing -

I just went to miniusa.com and then chose the MINI Owner's Lounge and what title appears at the top of the window while it is loading? Why the words "BMW Owner's Circle" that's what!.

Went to the dealership and saw a DS S with white roof/mirrors, man was it a sweet site. Loved the exhaust note!
