Question Tinted Windows???

hi all

has anyone tinted their windows on their car? i am thinking about doing it but im not so sure- cause i know theres a limit to how much you can have... am i right that theres no limit to the side windows? and only to the front windscreen??? i know a local garage that does it- they put a tint film on the inside for about £150...

oh yeh ive noticed that the chrysler voyagers have very dark windows as standard so wots the limit? and wot happens when u go over the limit?

i've searched the forum and couldn't find anything but im sure its been mentioned before- sorry if i've repeated something...

any help or tips? many thx

mikey

I'm not entirely sure but I think you can have the rear windows tinted as much as you like, up to 25% on the front side windows and nothing on the windscreen.

I only have a slight tint on mine but it makes such a difference to the appearance of the car! It's great IMHO!

The place that did mine took ages and charged a fortune. Then again they did have to break the car down into its component molecules first, then apply the tint, and then reassemble it, so I guess it was fair enough.

'Promise I won't say a word on the subject Racer.

Then again, Racer's probably asleep........

IF ANYONE CONSIDERING TINTING THEIR WINDOWS GET'S TOLD THAT THE WINDOWS WILL REQUIRE REMOVAL TO CARRY OUT THE JOB. LEAVE !!!. IT IS COMPLETELY AND UTTERLY AN UNNECESSARY WASTE OF TIME, MONEY AND EFFORT.

Some people don't share this point of view of course.

Because tinting implies "coloured" ........ Darkened implies...well, darkened.

Awww...... come on Racer. It's a valid issue. ha ha ha.....

Basil, your right tinting does mean coloured ,but it also darkens the windows does it not and darkened means exactly the same.

PS,Racer, you want to marry Basil or divorce him or am I just looking at this through tinted or darkened glasses

dinger, your right too, they both mean much the same thing. I think the "tint" reference simply comes from the use of "tinted film", and most companies use the word "tint" so i guess it kinda sticks, if you'l pardon the pun.

"Rose coloured" glasses dinger.......

ha ha ha

cheers.

Irreconcilable difference I believe the term is - I'm right he's wrong that's all there is to it - Obviously if you keep the windows Basil I'll be quicker around the track - perhaps I can have the regs altered to allow for divorce settlements !(Don't tell TVRman though he's not very keen on reg changes )

Maybe we can reach a truce Racer. You don't mention the removing the glass thing, and I won't mention the removing the glass thing.

dinger is just being argumentative, coz he loves a good fight......

Well I can't promise someone else wont post in a few days re tinted windows - I don't think I could resist replying ! - I tell you what I promise not to actually remove my windows anymore to tint them if you promise you WILL remove them when if you ever tint! - Good that just leaves TVRMan to deal with
