Offline | These Old People! - When I DON'T like being waved at! Had a cracker yesterday. Old boy decides to jump queue ot traffic lights - drives towards me on my side of the road to turn into a garage. It was quite safe though because his method of avoiding an accident was to take one hand of the wheel and WAVE at me continously as he was doing his 50 metre manouver. Yes he drove a Honda Yes it was metalic silver Yes he wore a Victor Meldrew cap Lets see if thats in the highway code for nutters - ah here it is... " You can perform any dangerous manouver you like as long as you a) wave or b) put on your hazzard lights." Give me strength. BRGreenie ... --- ... |

Offline | sounds fair enough to me! these old dodderers make me laugh. We got this guy who drives an old blue classic mini by us. - He drives from Worcester to Evesham every day and will not exceed 25-30mph the whole way! sometimes there can be upto 20-30 cars behind in a the biggest mother of tailbacks. The funny thing is when you do eventually pass him, the old git gives you the horn and shouts!! - We have a small piece of dual track on the way out of worcester and on seeing the little blue mini ahead in the distance all hell breaks loose as drivers drive like idiots to pass him b4 they meet the single carrageway! It must be hard to some older drivers who cant cope with the influx on our roads today! |

Offline | What is it about pensioners and Hondas? Do you have to show your pension book before you are allowed to test drive a Honda Civic? (BTW - have you noticed how the interiors on Civics exactly match those nice warm car coats that gentlemen of a certain age wear?) |

| MINI2 Master | If we're on about old drivers (70+) then I've seen a few DANGEROUS incidents around my way. A few that spring to mind: 1. A little old lady approaches a roundabout and proceeds to drive the wrong way around it. Cars are flashing and beeping her, and she maintains her chin on the steering wheel totally oblivious to whats going on around her. 2. An old chap and his wife come of a large roundabout coming onto a duel carriageway and actually come off at the wrong exit. They end up driving up the dual carriageway the wrong way!! I'm not saying all older drivers are bad of course. But there's me with quite a hefty insurance bill every year as I'm only 25 and these loons get insured dirt cheap! Even though I am IAM approved and have completed a number of safety performance courses, skid pans, and track days, at the end of the day, the insurance company would rather let someone like this behind the wheel rather than me. Sorry to go a bit off topic, but its a real bug of mine ![]() Lotus Elise SC - Collecting 1st April |

Offline | Love to see what you lot will be like in 30 years time. Can't say I like the 20mph brigade either but there is nothing wrong with Victor Meldrew. It was being so cheery that kept him going. morrisminiminor |

Offline | I've got a few which relate to my Nana of 85 years, both of which are very recent: 1. She got a loan SMART car whilst her A-class was in getting serviced. It was one of those sequential boxes which requires manual shifts, but without the need for a clutch. She obviously didnt understand this logic, as she drove back home along the motorway in FIRST gear for 50 miles!! She thought it was a really slow car coz it was so small. LOL ![]() ![]() ![]() 2. Back in the Merc, this time with me onboard as a passenger. Nana misreads a sign post on motorway, and turns off into a small layby at 75 mph, thinking it was an exit. Ok, she was a little confused. But then, after dramatically slowing to about 20mph, she just pulls straight back out onto motorway . An Eddie Stobart came within inches..... ![]() ![]() |

Offline | you gotta laugh... I was heading out of Leeds towards Harrogate about 3 weeks ago in my MCS 40mph changes to 60mph once you get so far up the road I soon caught up with an old lady in a Pug 206 a 1.1 or 1.4 (basicish model) anyway she continued at just under 40mph in the 60 zone I patiantly waited without getting right up behind her (pardon the phrase) until I was able to overtake. I sensibly waited until there were broken white lines checked my mirrors and proceeded to overtake as there was nothing coming in the opposite direction as soon as i pulled out she floored it, so i tickled the S's gas peddle and and shot passed her looked in my mirror, only to see her shaking her fist and flashing her lights at me (as if to say i wasnt going to slow you young hooligan) i laughed and proceded, I caught up with a slow moving van and couldnt get round it looked in my mirror and there she was again I could see there was a gap to overtake coming up so edged closer to the van looked in my mmirror she had her indicator on to pass us both ( silly old dodderer) I passed the van she got stuck behind it thing it was better known as un called for granny rage. |
