Question Another number plate query

As the finishing touch to my BRG/W MC I had a private plate put on it last year.

As I have now given into the irresistible temptation of ordering a new DS/B MCS last Jan (as I guess I always knew I would ) I now want to transfer the plate when my new one arrives (16th March, aargh...can't wait ) - how do I go about doing this?

I'm assuming the dealer can sort it for me - but will it mean waiting even longer while this is arranged...?? Surely not....don't think the old ticker will stand it

Can anyone help???

When the new car arrives unregistered they will just register your personal plate to the car. Your dealer will do it once you give him the paperwork he needs. Time shouldn't be an issue at all. What's the plate?!

I thought that these things take a couple of weeks to get processed, given that your current car will need to be registered with a 'normal' plate and the transfer process needs to happen. However the dealer should be able to clarify the situation - this is something they deal with all the time.

Thanks for you help everyone, I'll have a chat with him...

Intrepidmini, its my birthday (1 letter for the month then 2 digits for the day, + my intials), not very exciting really, but it does make the car feel a bit more special...

Have you really!?! At least post a pic if you are telling the truth - that would be a cool plate!

(Living in Bedfordshire, I would expect a plate saying L11TON with a screw in between the 1s at the bottom to make them a U!!!!)

AR53 NAL = "Future auction" according to the DVLA website. Nice idea though. Wanna buy it for me!?!

Transfer of personalised registration is subjected to a charge - 80 GBP I believe

Had my plate transferred from my old Mini to the new one in 2002, and that's how much it cost then (arranged via my dealership)

That plate definitely complies with the DVLA standard font!

How about H477 ERS!?!

I did this last year when I bought my Mini. All I did was went to my local DVLA office and paid 80 quid to get the original plate put back on the old car, they gave me paperwork that the dealer needed to register my MINI with the private number, and they did the rest.
