Offline | Anything new apart from the convertible? Hello all, I know I am not a frequent poster (this is my first post enev though I read you guys every day), but I have a question that's bugging me. A little history: I live in Romania, in Bucharest, I am a great fan of British cars. My fiance has a Jag S-Type and we really want to have a Mini. I now drive a 206. We went to the local BMW dealer last month and had a drive test with both Cooper and Cooper S. I absolutely adored the S as I am also a speed demon .So...we decided to order one red & white, chilli pack and cd player. And then I read Paul's report of the facelift coming this September. I decided to wait, I wanted to have my Mini this May and I figured that a 4 months wait won't be so long. But..I waited this Geneva show and I read the report on the site...only the convertible was shown, but what about the rest of the Minis? I understood the facelift was to be announced at Geneva this March. I am really anxious to find out if September does bring anything new...if not, I should go on and order my Mini, I don't want to wait till next year. Oh, and something else: the dealer at the BMW is a friend's sister, she was really nice to us and when I asked her about the fecelift and the rumours, at first she denied it and then, we met at a party, she told me she got some news from Germany and starting September, the new facelifted Mini will be available The reason for waiting: I heard the suspension will be better for the new Cooper S, the part I loved the least at the drive test. The rest...I don't really care about the lights or the fog lamp but the dashboard should be better as this one seems not to hold in place very well. Sorry I cannot find the right words to describe the right feeling... it's just the Jaguar's dashboard feels like a rock which cannot be moved and doesn't rattle at all, while the Mini one seems like a Ford's (we once had a Mondeo) which seems to break at every bump in the road and rattles a lot. Thanks for listening. | Trained Monkey | The updated MINI (nip-n-tuck, call it what you will) has still not been completely confirmed, however I did manage to get a "some of the revisions will, of course, go across the range, but NOT at the launch time of the Convertible". The suspension has been revised once, I have no new news relating to another update there, making it stiffer again, or at least as on option, would be something I'd fancy! My money is still on September. |
