Offline | The open road or country lane fun? Which one do you like driving down the most? Burning it down the open straights of the motorways or A roads fuelling your need for speed!! Or throwng it round the thin bendy roads around farmer land? Havin a Cooper and not a super dooper speedy S I would have to say the country roads there is nothing more fun than getting round those bends a makin your Mini stick like hell, I have never had a car that likes it so much, brings a smile to my face . I am well jammy that I live out in the country side and I get to drive them most of the day. If you live in the city I say get out there and have a mini adventure, just dodge the cowpats! What does everyone else think?? I love my Mini so much it's unhealthy! ![]() Bean in the green |

| Whatev. | The open road is boring. I live in an area where the population has exploded over the past couple of years yet the infrastructure has stayed the same. I can take the "short way" home from work and battle the gits driving slow in the fast lane on the expressway - that takes 40 minutes. Or I can take the "long way" home which takes me through some country roads and fun twisties and a nice twisty hill that feels like a roller coaster to drive down - not quite as country as I would like though, I do see about a dozen cars. That takes an hour and all of the new people who live in the area don't know about it so they cannot get in my way. I have been taking the long way home a lot since getting my MINI. I never did in my old car. PS I drive an MCS and whilst the extra get up and go is great in traffic, it is not about the speed for me - it is how fast I can get up to the speed limit. ![]() |

Offline | some of the single lanes out here are so neglected that you can't go much over 35mph before you go airborn. Though I do like the short little banked 90 degree S-curves they throw in around the fields. |

Offline | In general I agree about the country roads, but my MINI has proved to be a pretty good freeway car as well. We took it to Vegas a few weeks ago, about 600ish miles of mostly straight, open freeway. It was comfortable and solid feeling even belting along at pretty high speeds. It can even be a lot of fun in heavier freeway traffic as well. On Friday I was driving down to SF and started to run into a bit of traffic (forty mile per hour kinda stuff). It was great fun zipping in and out of lanes with the MINI's size and acceleration. (I promise I didn't cut anybody off) At one point I looked in my rearview mirror to see a cute blond in a dark silver MCS behind me doing the exact same thing. It looked like she was chasing me (I wish ), but it was just the natural thing to do with a MINI in that kinda traffic. |

Offline | The more twists & turns the better ! I live in Sydney & thankfully you dont have to go too far to find some fun roads. Mountain roads , countryside & coast roads are never far away. I go to the central coast ( 1 HOUR FROM SYDNEY ) for work quite often for work & i always take the hour plus old 2 lane hwy through the national park as opposed to the 6 lane FWY that takes half the time. |

Offline | Since I am presently driving a classic 1968 Mini, I like doing what the car does best - cornering! It is not too fun or fast on the freeway and too loud to really enjoy a quiet drive in the country but it eats twisty mountain roads like nothing else! I am looking forward to getting my new MINI and taking it on a long trip so I can get used to driving it. I am thinking abgout taking the coast up to Oregon or Washington. |

Offline | I want to drive on your roads and leave behind my stomach in the air!! I think it is safe to say that country driving rocks the most and all Mini owners realise it. Mini's love those country lanes. loved trying to keep up with wardmj1's S down them the otherday, had to red line it all the way and he still kept pullin away, crackin! I love my Mini so much it's unhealthy! ![]() Bean in the green |

| MINI2 Master | Country Lanes I love going up to the lake district. Some of those lanes around Grizedale, Hawkshead, Coniston, Ennerdale, Seathwaite and so on are freakin great fun and the North Yorkshire moors are not too far away either. ![]() And who could not like the Honister Pass, Causey Pike, Wrynose and the Infamous Hardknott Pass (Reputed to be britains most challenging drive). When we go the lakes we tend to start out at around Ambleside/Windermere etc up the Kirkstone Pass. Go to the Kirkstone inn and have brunch. From there on we wind our wayu along to the Honister pass, checking our any Waterfalls we can find pretty much with the passenger reading a map and making snap decisions as to the direction to go. - Generally, we'll be going down those lanes that are two very narrow lines - ie Just enough room for two cars.. heh. We'll then make our way through some of the tiny tiny villages and hamlets - again through windy country lanes to Braithwaite where we'll have lunch and half a beer for the driver. From there on it's through Whinlatter forest.. basically trying our best to get lost.. He ! Nothing more fun than getting lost.. ![]() Eventually we make our way over towards Muncaster where we will go to the castle and the Owl reserve. Then it's along the Hardknott pass, take a right towards Seathwaite to the Newfield Inn for what has got to be one of the best Pub meals I've ever had and a pint of locally brewed Bluebird beer. Then from there it's up across the moors to the start of the Hardknott pass again, over that and then over the Wrynose pass, down through Hawkshead and Grizedale forest. back along the A roads towards Ambleside. Back on the Boring M6 and home. Total mileage is around 350 - 400 and a good 10 hour day incorporating stops and relaxing in the sun at rivers ![]() |
