Back To When It All Started

Recently I came across the October 1959 copy issue of Motor Trend Mag.
Inside is a review of the new BMC MINI-MINOR.

I took pictures of the article warning the full size pictures are quite large.

I'm curious as to what their definition of reasonable head and leg room was.

reasonable head and leg room was very reasonable!

I owned a '91 Mini for 5 years and loved it to bits - I'm over 6' tall by the way! The packaging of the car was amazing, remember that they did not have all the crash legislation that is required today - so there is absolutely no spare room in the body shell at all anywhere! It used 80% of its entire volume for passenger space.

It was sold for over 40years in Europe and Japan - the last models were equiped with fuel injected 1.3 liter versions of the original engine, airbags, full leather interior. These were and still are great little cars, no excess anywhere in them, just like the new one.

I once did a 16 hour trip back from scotland in my '99 cooper sport at the end of that i could barely walk. I agree they are wonderful little cars my mother has one and I have 2 classics a '86 mini chelsea and my '99 cooper sport, and I currently have an MCS on order.

16 hours would be painful (I guess going to 'Coruscant' takes a while all those glaxies away - very sad) - however I would still agree with reasonable head and legroom for what was and is supposed to be a car used around town!!!!!!
