which tracker?

before anyone starts posting links of tracker threads, i have done my search but did not get the answer that i want.

i'm quite aware of the existence of various brands such as tracker, rac trackstar, navtrak etc.

my question is - which one to go for? or rather, which one seems to be the one you guys go for?

One of the things is looking at how much backing does the company have - because if they go under will you be left with a device that is unusable.
When I was looking for a device to fit the above reason left me with a choice between AA - Tracker & RAC Trackstar
The popularTracker is their cheap one but it is not Thatcham approved as it relies on a police car with the relevant equipment to track it being available. In saying that it has recovered more cars than any other (maybe due to the fact they have sold so many)
I went for the Trackstar as it doesn't rely on (un interested) police forces to track it, is fully automatic and can be used in Europe. They have just dropped the price by £150 and there is now the option of the system giving you speed camera warning (3 months free trial)
One thing to remember though - there have been isolated cases of blocking devices being used on tracking systems.
There are other things available

I know of at least one vehicle that was nicked whilst the tracker was 'blocked'
the devices are illegal in this country but can be purchased
I have an anti hook & cane/hi jack device on my precious Mini
