Are MINI's the hardest car to keep clean?

before i had my MINI i had a 5series BMW and before that a pug 205, and out of all these, the MINI is by far the easiest to get crudded up!

i washed the MINI friday afternoon with autoglym premium car shampoo, glass cleaner, resin finish etc etc. saturday morning i went for a shopping trip to Trafford Centre at Manchecher, a 80mile each way trip. although the weather was a little drizzly, i had some hope of not completely wasting my 3hr cleaning job, but as the attached piccy shows, just a 160mile mile trip completely trashed my efforts.

has anyone ever had a car worse than a MINI at keeping clean and what was it?

PS, & what is it with the back window.... dirty again after 100metres! (had to stop on the return journey to top up the screenwash, which had been topped up not a week earlier!)

MINIs are famous for having a dirty backside in no time!

Part of the fun I guess in doing runs, is to see who has the dirtiest backside at the end of the run

I've never owned a car before with rear washers/wipers. I thought it was simply a convenience feature and a bit of a novelty. *Now* I understand why!

Very easy to wash, though...

Hatchbacks throw up lots of dirt due to the airflow pattern . There should be not much difference between car types in terms of difficulty to clean apart from the rims. Since you had done a good job cleaning and polishing, a soft long-handled brush would do the job easily along with a hose.

I dont know what all the fuss is about-my black 'S' has stayed like new for the past 2-weeks-maybe it has to do with the fact that it is still at the dealer and I can only collect it 7 April tee hee....

I carry a California car duster, It works great providing the rear did not get wet plus these "grab" fiber cloth for the wheels. The MINI gets dirty extremely fast.

It's a design feature in collusion with the major car cleaning product manufacturers and the water companies.

Will greatly depend on the weather to be honest.

Sure its one of the easiest cars to clean anyway, the worst bit has to be lorries in wet weather, they plaster the car in mud.

I live in a small village where the roads are frequented by the local farmers who leave big mucky lumps of soil all over the place with their tractors. This turns into a fine red dust which is permanently stuck on the bum of the motah

I'd wash it every day, but the Mrs would have me interned

Best car I have ever owned or driven...worst car ever at getting dirty...still quick to wash and I was warned beforehand how grubby they get....drove to my brothers 30 miles away, car was gleaming..filthy when i go there, bro washed again for me....looked like Id been rallying by the time I got back...oh well the joys of Mini ownership...I wouldn't part with Manfred for anything

I'm being tempted back to a MINI....

Hi, totally agree with you, did almost the same as you on Sat gave it a polish etc took some photos was so pleased with how it looked then drove to my friends 100 miles away and it was completely covered in dirt especially the back. lol also ran out of screen wash which is also a pain when you use it as it runs all down both side windows and makes them dirty to.

Had a Golf before and the back end of that was almost as bad!

Still love it though worth the extra wash.

United-Kingdom They are indeed!

A nightmare to keep clean, and I have a white one!!!

MY girlfriend has a ONE which doesn't seem to get as dirty a back end as mine (S). I think it's something to do with the spoiler. It is by far the worst car fo getting dirty, certainly that I've ever known.

On a damp motorway I have to keep the rear wiper on the stop the road dirt building up on the back window. In fact I've noticed that little piles of dirt build up in the bottom corners of the glass. However I have noticed if actually get it wet it seems to clean itself to an almost acceptable level.

Check out the attachment, I can't believe the amount of salt that built up on the glass in essentially 200 miles!!!!!

Mind you don't you find it's nice the car actually looks like it's been on an adventure.

As well as a Mini I also have a 3-series Touring which gets just as dirty around the back. As a previous poster said it's something to do with airflow over the car. At least the Mini is small enough to clean quickly!

www.mossmini.com has them. $13.95 for the front and $59.95 for the rear.
