after our spirited run upto Cowley on friday for a rather excellent trip around the factory. I picked up a crack in the center of the windscreen on the botton edge. This continued to expand over the weekend and eventually the whole screen cracked by saturday.
MINI insurance cover £50 excess and autoglass came out to fit sunday morning.
Due to particularly rainy weather the glass was removed, but due to wetness the fitting had to be done in the garage. However due to excessive crap storage in the garage, i could only get the front half of the MINI under the garage. no probs the screen area was covered so the glass went in.
However. the bloody wind caught the up and under garage door and gusted it straight down on to my roof. Bang slap, straight in the middle of MINI roof. initial examination, no scratches, the garage door had a rubber strip on the botton, which prevented any paint damage. but looks like theres a crease line. i need to check the car after ive cleaned it next.
I was at the time gutted as i was no where near the MINI when it happened. I had to watch from a far and swear a lot. as roofs are very dificult to remove dents from.... moral of the story.
a) clear crap from garage
b) park in the garage or outside the garage (not in between).
c) dont get glass replaced on a rainy day.
lets hope when the car is clean you can't see much.
I understand there is not much you can do with situations like this. I better sort the junk out in our garage now you mention it... its strange how you move into a house with an empty garage and over three years you have accumulated so much junk that you don't know what to do with it...
I know what i'm doing Sunday morning.
Pictures of decal when done
Does my @rse look big in this broom broom www.totalMINI.com will be right back
had a look at it again today, it may well just be a surface rub, the roof seems to be suprisingly flexible in the center tho. i will see if i can cut it out with tcut and wax it over. failing that its roof graphic. but which one, i fancy a silver UJ.
scoop, OUCh, pretty sure the windscreen crack phenomenon is a know fault from bits I've seen in here - have you thought to try speaking to your dealer ?
looks like a stone chip near the bottom of the screen. it eventually turned into a ? shaped crack. there was also many stone chips everywhere from the chilterns2 run. i had a corner crack under the tax disc too. so im not too worried about the replacement screen, i was planning to get it done after the winter...
just noticed someone damaged my passengers side wing mirror too... im just not having a good day at today at all...
