Offline | Hey Everyone, Just wanted to share the bad news with someone, today while parked in Boston at a major university parking lot, my side repeater lenses and grilles were stolen from my Cooper S. Anyone who is stealing parts off a car is so pathetic it's beyond ridiculous. Anyway, I have seen a few more Cooper S's around campus, so I was hoping that some of them would be on the forum and keep their eyes on their cars. I'm sure it was a random act, but you never know. I empathize with anyone who has had his/her cars messed with, and let's all hope that karma is real.... Happy motoring, Nebula On a side note, does anyone have an idea as to how much these side repeater grilles are to replace from the dealer? |

Offline | nebula, Sorry to hear about that!!! That's truly terrible Anyways, I would suggest that you have a looksee at the 'regular' MINI Cooper models parked on campus to see whether they have the 'S' side repeaters and side grills on them. Not everyone who owns a MINI is as honest and law abiding as the MINI2 community, you know! ![]() |

Offline | I was parked at Boston University, and was hesitant to mention that because I did want to check the Coopers around campus. But, you could never prove they took them anyway, unless you asked to see the receipt or asked them where they got them. It seems like quite a bit of confrontation just to get back what was yours... I figured that everyone who had a Cooper or an S would have enough $ to buy their own grilles. Maybe if someone had theirs stolen, they might adopt a tit-for-tat policy, which is awful. You can be sure that I won't be scouring the streets of Beantown for someone else's grille inserts....I can't inagine how that person holds down a job, has respect for themselves, talks to the opposite sex, etc. Damn human scum... Hey, has anyone attempted to keep these grilles attached in a more permanent way? I'm afraid that if I do that, they'll just screw up the body trying to pry them out... Offline | Hmm, one method came to mind right away - the infamous 'razor blades glued on the back of a car stereo' tactic that some car owners have done in desperation to reduce theft in their vehicles, with quite bloody results!!! Now, I am in no way suggesting that you do that on the various components of your MINI to prevent them from being flinched Unfortunately, you live in a country where a thief could actually sue you if he hurt himself while breaking into your home - when the victimizer has more rights than the victim, everyone loses ![]() |

Offline | My daughter attends B.U. I give her a fiver for every set she sends me..... No, seriously.......I would guess that it's more local permanent residents who have found an application for the Honda or Nissan or it was a random act of stupidity. Missing my buddies Dan and Ed but glad I have two angel buddies , And on a quest to Right Secco's Wrongs |
