Offline | New Mini & question on seat position Greetings fellow Motorers! I am happy to report I am the proud new owner of a EB/EB Cooper S! I picked it up last Tuesday. decided that instead of dreading a long break-in period, I'd shorten it with a quick trip through Texas over the weekend. So....1100 miles later, I'm about to cross the magic 1250-mile mark! (Texas is a *big* state!) I've uploaded a couple of quick pictures from my trip: Now my actual question. I apologize in advance if this has already been covered... I have a couple of friends that desperately want to test drive my car this weekend. I trust their driving skills (they're European ;-) ); but I'm guessing they'll fiddle with the drivers seat position. I experimented with the seat settings all weekend to get it to the *perfect* control+comfort position for me. So how do I "remember" the current settings so that I can put them back exactly the same way afterwards? I could draw registration lines using a permanent marker for each of the key settings; but that would leave permanent marks on the seat. ugh. Maybe I could use tape? But that might jamb if you move the seat.... Ideas? Thanks!!! -larry |

![]() MINI2 Master | Just set the passenger seat to the exact same position settings as the drivers seat. When you get the car back you can set the drivers seat from the passenger seat. This should work fine if you tell your friends NOT to mess with the passenger seat settings. |

Offline | Yeah....I know what ya mean. I had my seat perfect til some pushy executive from my company decided he wanted me to show him the car. He sat in the driver's seat and fiddled w/ every adjustment. He is about 6'1" I'm 5'8". It took me over a week to get it right again....drove me nuts! Another thing you can do is start adjusting the seats as they are now to thier extreams, being careful to count the incriments & directions you moved them in. Then after your friends have driven, set them back to the extreams and back track. |

| UberGeek | I found that the factory seats have too much adjustment... I was always fiddling around trying to find the sweet spot. For the record I moved the seat to furthest back/lowest (etc) and counted the number of notches/moves/whatever to find the 'correct' position. Since I junked the factory seats and put in Sparco race seats, I find that they are far less adjustable - that is, there is no height adjustment (bum/ass is on the floor!) and the forward/back movement has far fewer positions. However, I find it very easy to find my 'ideal' position, particularly when my Mrs has been out for a spin. Although, adjusting the rear view mirror still takes bloody ages.... ![]() -Lee aka PunkeyFunky |
