Why did I buy my mini?

I had a £33000 Volvo V70 T5 with 5-speed tip-tronic, silky smooth auto 'box. Full leather, decent stereo, all the trimmings. I have 3 kids and another one on the way!!! I also have an elderly chocolate labrador. I have to say with 250BHP that car was a really lovely car- whisper quiet, & ultra smooth. In fact there was no better car to travel long distance in.

One weekend in January I suddenly found myself booking a test drive in a Mini for the Monday lunchtime..... I was hooked.... by Friday 8:30am I was driving a used MCS JCW away from a used car dealer halfway across the country..... and the Volvo was part of my motoring history!

It just doesn't make sense does it?

The only part that has any sense at all to it is that at least the family can all get into my wife's Zafira GSI Turbo! Not as nice as the volvo, but can fit at least as much gear into it as the Volvo and with 192BHP on tap, it's a lot of fun too.

Nearly two months on, I am still trying to find excuses to run errands etc in my new baby. I have had quite a number of new cars over the years, and with all the other cars I have 'settled down' after a week or two.

I think I am obsessed with my Mini!- should I try to get treatment or is it terminal?

I think basically everyone here feels exactly like you do, so don't be too worried! It's just a MINI thing!! I got my car in August, and everytime I get in it, it's like driving a brand new car. I love it!

4 kids!!! Didn't you learn anything from having the first 3?

Looks like another recruit to join Soggy and I in Zafira2.com.

MINI is a fun car to drive, it brings out the little devil in me

The way I can slosh Apple about reminds me of the happy days with my old Mini

Luckily I do not have to justify having a small car - only 2 of us and no kids, and I am the only one that drives in our household

Join the club of the insane, you are not alone

Hope to meet you at a MINI meet soon

DITTO! I too have had many new cars in my life, but certainly none like the Mini. The newness just doesn't wear off!

My sweetie is a psychiatrist. When I first began to talk about MINIs she said they were toys, and that I couldn't have one. I talked about our experiences in my AH Sprite and she baegan to smile. Took her to the local MINI dealer to "just sit in one for awhile" and she said it was nice, but still objected to my owning one. Then one day I told her that there was a cute LY/B MCS on a boat with a stop over in NY before it arrived at home, and she became reserved and the excited. She has become quite the MINIphile wanting to know what new goodies will be soon added to "her" MINI.
Yes, MINIs/Minis are addictive, even contagious. This peaceful pandemic has no cure. The world needs more MINI addicts. My MINI motoring mantra: "I don't wanna grow up."

I hope to be able to make a meet at some point in the not too distant future. Looks like minicooperitis is the likely cause of my affliction!

Funny thread and this "vacine" for the desease is funny too...

but what happened to every one in the thread?
Has me worried what are the long term side effects?
And what happened to that hot Velvet red color?
