Someone crashed into the back of my JCW MCS!

Well....it sounds a lot worse than it is...just want to vent so please excuse me!

Last night was at a friends party and three of us who were driving left to drive onto the next bar whilst the others walked! Now, one of the drivers had had 3 BOTTLES of red wine and disappointingly chose to drive the half a mile to the next bar! (We drove cos it was freezing cold!)
Half way to where we were going, I was stopped at a set of lights (first on line) and he came screaming up behind me, couldnt stop and bumped into me! There were no cars infront of me luckily but it was on a T junction so nearly pushed me into oncoming traffic!! IDIOT!
So sorted stuff out....(ish) and took it to the dealers today and it has to have a new bumper as my bumper was scratched up a treat! Luckily, neither myself or my girlfriend (my passenger) were hurt and it could have been a lot worse!

The good thing to come from this terrible incident is that I have always wanted a rear aero kit bumper...so now I think I shall get one! it is infact cheaper to replace my bumper with an Aero kit bumper than it is for a new standar bumper!! Only by about Ģ30 but weird huh!?

So that was my little incident of the evening last night! Thanks for reading!

Jones!

What, the guy who was ed drove into you. Did you know he was ed?

Friend or not you should have:

a) Tried your best to stop him driving
b) Threatened to call the cops if he wouldn't be persuaded
c) Called the cops if he drove

Rant over...

Well actually he is my former boss where I used to work so I know him reasonably well! And everyone tried to stop him driving and so we left before him incase he did decide to drive but he caught up with us!

But yeah, can understand your point.

Glad you did your bit then Jones.

Drink driving is a terrible thing especially after THREE bottles of wine. There's no way I could walk to my car after that never mind drive it

After crashing into you did he carry on driving?

Yeah well he is a BIG bloke and used to it I am afraid to say!

Yeah he did, he cunningly hid his car somewhere in an attempt to create some sort of false alibi and say that he wasnt driving! Also, so that I couldnt see any damage to his car! I have sent him the quote for the new bumper etc so we shall see what happens.

Check this though:

New aero bumper, fitted, painted by dealer : Ģ591 (wait of 2 days for parts)
New aero bumper, fitted, pre-painted : Ģ356 (wait of 3 weeks for parts)

Amazing huh?!!! Almost Ģ250 cheaper/more expensive! Guess which one the dealer gave me first until I re-enquired?? Guess which one I gave to the guy who crashed into me??!

Sorry to hear that, and very glad you are both ok.

Now, ex boss or not, bigger than you or not, you should report it to the police - next time that idiot drinks 3 bottles of wine and drives up the back end of someone he may kill them, you two have had a lucky escape

Similar(ish) thing happened to my girlfriend, thankfully totally un alcohol related.

She stopped behind one of the managers while leaving the office and followed him to a T-junction. He then relealised he wanted to got right not left, whacked into into reverse and smacked straight into the front of my GF's car - bear in mind he is in Land Rover Discover - the whole front end on her car is smashed up.

So here the good bit, he gets out, so does Julie, they both survey the damage and he then says 'OK I don't want to involved the insurance (bearing in mind they both work for an insurance company ) so how about we go halves on the damage?'

Halves, I'll give you ing halves!!!!!!

Fleece him for more than that mate - how about colour coding the arches as well

Have you had the car checked out thoroughly, you may find one day that the lovely straight car you had, aint quite got the same straight chassis it once had, and it would be a bit late to do anything about it by then.

Yeah this is true. The chap at BMW did have a nosy under the car and said that it hadnt done anything to the re-enforcers so the likely hood of chasis damage is minimal!

Annoying that it has to go in as means I will have to remove certain mods!! Headache!!!

Ditto to that. This thread makes me very sad. I lost my oldest son to a drunk driver. Shame all the way around......

I don't remember ever seeing anywhere where it says if you are a big bloke its ok to drink 3 bottles of wine and drive. If I was you I would of rung the police there and then. How are you going to feel if next week he does it again and this time kills some one and you could of stopped him by ring the police?? As far as I'm concerned lock him up and throw the key away before he does it again .

Easiest way to stop someone drink driving - snatch their keys and throw then down the nearest drain.

There is just one moon and one golden sun; And a smile mean friendship to ev'ryone; Through the mountains divide, and the oceans are wide; It's a small world after all.

Yeah, I truly understand your point and in no way condoning drink driving! If I know I am driving, I wont go anywhere near it. And yes, it is not ok that as some one is big then this means that they are allowed to drink more. I was trying to say he is able to appear to withstand a higher alcohol intake than many others but yes, it is not acceptable. But also, put yourself in my position when it is someone you know, some one your family knows and you know that if they did lose their licence it would ruin them (ie lose job etc). This made me even more mad and this being my first 'accident' I was in shock more than anything! A very difficult situation, but I agree, an unacceptable one!
