Offline | I have posted elsewhere on this matter Had my 'Comfort Opening' programmed into the remote, yesterday along with 'drive off locking' and 'follow me home lights' (to 40 seconds delay). HOWEVER; more programmable options have been added on later cars. A print out from the OBD socket will tell you what's available on your car. Apparently; later cars are set by default to drop speed one wipers to 'intermittent' when the car comes to a stop. Does your car do this? My thanks to Adrian at LIND of Norwich for re-setting my options F.O.C. |

Offline | Dealer trying to charge! As I said earlier in this thread Vines in Guildford were trying to charge me to program my computer for me when I sent it in for warranty work, but William Jacks (formly Royal Ascot), are quite happy to do this for free so this is the mail I sent to Vines: Dear John, I have an appointment to bring my Cooper reg no: RV02 *** in for some warranty work on the 25th April. I am just letting you know that I would like to cancel this. I have tried to call but no-one appears to answer the phone. My reason for cancelling this is simple, I brought my MINI from Barons in Farnborough and they were awful. I am now looking for a new dealer who can offer me the sort of service that I would expect from BMW. As you may remember I asked that whilst my Cooper was in for warranty work that my key could be programmed as this had not been done yet. This is a small job and not much to ask, and yet I was told that more than likely I would be charged around 30 pounds to have this done unless Barons would agree to pay the charge. Not even that Vines would contact Barons and arrange this. I have never heard of any MINI dealer charging for this service, especially whilst in for warranty work, and have spoken to a large number of other MINI owners about this. I have spoken to William Jacks who are my closest dealer to my home and they have agreed to carry out my warranty work on a Sat, and said they would certainly not try to charge to program a key. This is the sort of service I would expect and find it very short sighted of Vines not to realise that if they offer me a high level of customer service, I will continue to use them in the future for any warranty/service work, and more than likely end up buying my next car, which will more than likely be a BMW, for them. Instead it will now be William Jacks who will be receiving my business, and also my recommendation via the MINI2 website for other owners to use them as well. I hope that maybe this was a one-off, and not a fair reflection on the normal level of service Vines offer, but would appreciate it if you could pass this feedback on to your dealer principal. Yours sincerely, Martin Varse's Velvet Beauty Mk11 is no longer, sold back to my dealer. |

Offline | Re: I have posted elsewhere on this matter Hmmmm. I drove a 3 series with this function. I found it VERY annoying when stopping at junctions. It's the very last place you want the wipers to stop wiping, and to get them going past intermittent you had to put it up to the fast wiper setting. No doubt it's something that can be disabled. ![]() |
