Greetings all. In December 2003, I decided to wait for two things to happen before I purchased my Mini. These two things are

(1) The 2004 mid-year upgrade.
(2) The availability of the Mini Fini sport rack / bike rack (see www.minifini.com)

Well, spring is in the air and I'm getting impatient. I want my MINI!!!

The upgrade hasn't happened yet and the bike rack still isn't available.

Does anyone have any new information on when we can expect the mid-year upgrade to be available? Any more news? It seems like it was a hot topic that a while back and now there doesn't seem to be any discussion about it at all.

Does anyone have any pricing or review information on the MiniFini bike rack? This was suppose to be available last November (I think) and I just talked to our local dealership and it isn't available.

Thanks in advance for any info you might have.

Ah but there is current discussion on the facelift!
Here is a quote that I received from one of my local dealers when enquiring about lead times on a cooper s and the new facelift :

"Delivery on a new S is running at about early August time, but may well come forward by a week or so once ordered, and I believe the 'facelift' is appearing on the hatch late this year (December 2004) but I have had no official communications from MINI GB to support this. The new MINI Convertible will be the first MINI with the facelift, launch date late June this year."


Nothing concrete obviously.

Generally the annual model year changes occur from 1st Sept.

Over on the MotoringFile/MINI (formerly Bridger) site they are giving an expected time frame of May for the SportLink/bike carrier combo. Now if they would just get off the dime on the TowLink hitch attachment...

Seriously, when I spoke to a MINIfini rep a couple of months ago, the lady said that most of the hold ups are due to delays for testing by BMW.

I'm primarily waiting for the (1) new gearbox, (2) new suspension, and (3) new interior features. Have all these been put on the covertible?
