Our "spec" BMW commercial...

Okay, so this "spec" ad isn't for a Mini, but it is kinda related - the featured car (2000 BMW M Coupe) is the car I'll be selling for my Cooper S

Basically, my buddy Ryan and I sat down a while ago with the goal of creating a creative, fun 30 second short film. After much deliberation, this is what we came up with - a "spec" commercial for the BMW M Coupe called "Benefits of Attraction." You can check it out on the main "home" page at Trackfreak.com!

For those that are interested in what was involved on the production side, it took about a week's worth of writing and storyboarding, two days to shoot it (one for B-roll and one for the meat footage), and about a week for editing, color correction, and sound design. We shot the film using Sony's 3-chip PD-150, a pro-sumer version of the VX2000. It was then captured on a Power Mac G4 through Firewire, edited in Final Cut Pro 3, and color corrected using Magic Bullet in Adobe After Effects. Finally, the footage was compressed into QuickTime and MPEG formats for the web using Media Cleaner Pro 5.

In any case, I hope you enjoy the spot! Any comments would be much appreciated!

Cheers,

Kevin

I enjoyed it! Looks as professional (sound, visuals, editing, writing, etc.) as anything I've seen on TV. Now just sit back and wait for a check from BMW - they owe you.

BTW, You've got to make a MINI ad once your Cooper S arrives.

Nicely Done!!!

The effort shows. I second Bruce's motion that you put together something for the MINI when you get yours. A MINI2 tie in would be great.

Very Very impressive, superb quality, I agree that you've got to do a MINI advert that would be Cool.
It reminds me of another very similar Idea where a trafic wardon looks at a car (I think it was a golf) and then tops up the meter. But even so yours is of equal quality if not better

That's the plan! We've got a few other decent ideas brewin' that the Mini would be great for. I'll be sure to post it here when I have the chance to make it. Unfortunately, it looks like I won't be getting my S for a while, seeing as how Indi Blue won't be available until September.

Thanks again and feel free to pass it on to your friends!

Cheers,

Kevin
