Offline | MINI on Speed Channel last night??? Hey, a friend of mine just called to tell me that he saw a MINI on Speed Channel last night, with one of my shift knobs on it. Anyone know whose car that was? I've been sifting through some old paperwork, trying to find out the name of the customer, but no luck yet. The knob had a spider web engraving design. I'd appreciate any help in locating the customer, so that I can see about getting a tape of the program. Thanks in advance! Doug |

Offline | How do you want it? I can probably get it duped if you want VHS or I can send it to you on a DVD. I'll even delete the commercials for you (DVD only though I can edit that on my Mac)Let me know what you want. Same deal, I still get first dibs on a brake handle I think I still have your ship to from the deal we did on the knobs. If not I'll PM you. If someone here can get it to you quick go that route. |

Offline | VHS would be just fine. Just let me know what I owe you!! Doug Whalen 4944 Pearl City Rd. Freeport, IL 61032 Yep, you've got dibs on the handle, if I ever get a prototype made. I've dealt with three local shops now. The current guy promised me something by LAST FRIDAY!! I'm getting real close to ordering my own "poor-man's" CNC lathe; that is, a combination manual/programmable machine. There is a nice-looking one on the market for only $20K, brand new. I'm probably going to buzz into Chicago to take a look at them next week, and see just what they're capable of. If I sell my manual machine, that will help offset the cost. And best of all, I won't be at the mercy of outside shops; the buggers! ![]() |

Offline | I heard about this coming out -- the concept being that you give them your car and they mod it and then "surprise you" -- kind of like "Trading Spaces" or "While You Were Out" -- but for cars instead of houses. I saw a post in advance by the guy who was getting his car "done." So, how did it turn out? Was it really cool? ![]() Look at that little S car go! [Sold 2/06] |

Offline | You can! Got $20K you don't need? Seriously, though. I think after I make the leap, it will be like every other machine that I've ever purchased; I'll kick myself for not buying one sooner! At this point, I've spent nearly that same amount in out-sourcing two shift knob components to local turning shops. There just is no way to make them efficiently with a manual lathe, and maintain the dimensional accuracy that they require. |
