Offline | Okay- who out there transports a Sea Kayak on their MINI? My boat is 17'6", so I wonder about the wind and all. I wasn't going to get a rack for the MINI, and just use my other car for outdoor equipment. But the MINI is just soo fun to drive! |

Offline | It's not gonna happen Liz... unless you are traveling at speeds under 10 mph . The roof is not long enough for canoes and ocean kayaks. It will twist sideways. A custom made trailer would be cool. I have been considering it because even though I have a truck, I'd rather be in the mini. dr remulac |

Offline | I actually see a mini everyday with Yakama TLC saddles and the assorted kayak/canoe on top. I can not, however, give any first hand knowledge on how it handles.................considering I used my Honda Civic Coupe to haul around my 17' Daggar Apostle, which had a similar roof area, I would assume its a possiblity with fore and aft tie downs. .......hey you kids, get off the road.............. |

Offline | There are actually a couple of threads on MINI2 with pix of MINIs carrying kayaks. Check out http://www.mini2.com/forum/showthread.php?t=29441 (using foam blocks rather than a roof rack) and http://www.mini2.com/forum/showpost....88&postcount=5. Offline | not looking good Well- it looks like most of the boats are shorter than mine, so I may not try it. FYI- using the foam carriers is not a good long term thing for the boat. Plastic boats will lose their shape, fiberglass boats can be stressed and I have heard they can crack. Thanks all! |
