Offline | Alfa Romeo GT - What Do We Think?? I went to have a look at a Alfa GT today, its the 3.2 V6 24V i'm interested in - the same engine as the 147 GTA - 240 BHP. My first opinions are that its a stunning looking car and am seriously considering trading my S for one in a few months, just looking for some opinions. Cometh the Hour, Cometh the MINI |

Offline | Both. You'll need the MINI for when the Alfa breaks down. A family friend had an Alfa a couple of years ago, it broke down literally every month. He said British Leyland made better quality cars. The customer satisfaction survey Top Gear do put Alfa 36/36 both years. ![]() ![]() "Chilly is slightly less full of crap than the majority of us" - ScottyB |

Offline | I love Alfas.......trouble is they break down, the dealers are rubbish and they depreciate horrendously. Still, there is a little part of me going "*** it - buy one anyway" "Do try to keep up Nigel!" |

Offline | I personally dont think there as bad as made out - yeah they may rattle a bit but dont most MINIs - it is something I am slightly worried about as is the depreciation on a 26 grand car.Cometh the Hour, Cometh the MINI |

Offline | One of my colleagues had an Alfa as a company car a couple of years ago. The running joke in the office was that it had spent more time with the garage then it had with him. I've always loved the styling and the engines, but would never buy one after seeing how the owner experience takes 5 years from your lifespan for every year of ownership !! |

Offline | The Alfa's a good looking car - at least they're making cars a bit different to the usual 'bolt a slightly different body onto the same chassis' car like other manufacturers. Having said that, we traded a V6 Alfa 156 in for our Mini... partly due to the Alfa's dodgy reliability (2yr old). |

Offline | Alfa's have a bad reputation for reliability but the major parts seem reliable it's mainly electrics (still) and minor stuff that wouldn't put me off. The dealers just got voted the worst in 2 seperate polls but I could handle that. The depreciation is a different matter though... ouch. The styling is great and different and the V6 engine is sublime so in three years time when it's worth peanuts someone will get a great second hand car. The MINI still appeals to heart and head though. |
