Some of you may have read in my other threads...I am trying to choose a license plate. My bf is totally against the idea of vanity plates, but I think I'm going to do it anyway.....

I have narrowed the field down to two that are available in VA (please no one in VA take them!). Help me decide!

MOTR ON

I think either plate choice is good. Maybe go with MOTR ON
but most people who don't own MINI's won't know what it means.
There are pros and cons to vanity plates. I was all excited about mine until a few days after I got them and creepy men at the bank knew my name But you're not putting your name on yours so you should be ok.

Another choice, perhaps -- TRVL SZD -- as in "Travel sized, for your convenience."

I'd choose MOTR ON, only because of our own "Actual Size" right here on MINI2.com

That is kind of creepy maganoo - those dirty old men.

The whole personalized plate thing has its pros and cons. I think it stinks that in NY, anyway, you have to pay an annual fee for them.

SIZE - XS is a good one (and who can beat NH's saying: Live Free or Die!)

In VA there is an annual fee, but it's about $10 a year and you have to pay $10 the first year. That's like a dollar a month--not bad.

I'm moving to VA! Here is what we New Yawkers have to ante up:

I know it's still not a ton on a daily basis, but it's the principle of paying the DMV even more that I wrestle with.

In Oregon its like this:

Two-Year Fee $54
Custom Plates Surcharge $50

So it is $104 every two years or $52 a year for a custom plate. Not bad compared to other states but the custom plates don't cost the state MORE to maintain just to produce

I like the idea of vanity plates. In California, you can choose a charity and partial fees go to that organization..for instance "Save Tahoe, or Save the Arts"
