50,000 miles in 2 years, 8 Months

Just thought I'd give some feedback on nearly three years worth of daily use for my MINI.

Those of you who have been around since 2001 will know that from the start I've been clocking up the miles pretty quickly and it only seems like a few months ago that I was at 30,000 miles. Regardless I haven't been looking forward to reaching 50k miles, I guess you could say that its a bit like reaching 50 in real life, worring about things that can start to go and not being as fast as you used to be!

Well, all I can say is that my MINI doesn't really feel all that different from the day I picked it up. It's maybe a little slower of the mark (thats probably due to the extra bits I have added ) and it's had it's fair share of trips back to the dealership but as an overall experience I would definitely put it down as a positive one.

I'd definitely buy another one, although of course it would have to be an S Works next time

The TLC has now finished and it's needs a service in 975 miles (anyone know the cost of a proper service - not looking forward to that bit). However, all is not bad and the future is bright, the warranty is up in August so I can do what I want without worrying about the reaction from BMW - time to get it chipped!!

Looking back at all of those stories about rejections, I guess I've been lucky

And thanks of course to all who contribute to MINI2, without you guys, my mileage would only be 25,000

Congrats Justin !

Your car must be one of the highest mileage machines on MINI2 at the moment? And as an early car, its good to see you are still happy with it !

Congrats! I'm heading the same way if I don't watch myself. I've had it for less than a week, and already put over 1,000 miles on it!

Pah......that's nowt....

I did 92k in my Civic in the same length of time.....the only problem I had was self inflicted....I put 100W bulbs in the headlights.....and burnt the wiring loom out!

Congrats......BTW I must be lucky.......I've had nowt go wrong with my MCS.....just had its first service @ 11700.......I must be driving it too sympathetically, as others I know have had theirs serviced at around 9-10K......hmmmmm....must be the engineer in me!

I have only been here since summer 2002. Its good to hear that you are still happy overall.

Are you ging to keep the car, or do something else ? Any idea what its worth now that would demonstrate the three years depreciation model nicely ?

My greatest fear is that something will go "pop" shortly after the warranty finishes.

I suppose this is normal.

I'll have to look at all of your threads to see whats been done to yours. Just one thing though do you get the squeaky/ shrill moaning clutch, in first ?

Anyway your car looks better now than the day you bought it imho.

adios

Glad to see somebody with one of the early models so happy. I've every intention of keeping mine for a long time, so it's reassuring to see a good one. I would hope that the BMW influence would mean that they are all going to be long lived.

Great taste in colour by the way.

I must admit I am totally scared about things going wrong from now on. Having said that, nothing major has happened to it so far and it has been very reliable over the past 50,000 miles.

I have only just changed the front brake pads and it's had 4 sets of tyres on the front and only 3 on the back.

I originally paid something like £13,600 - I guess, looking at various guides online and going by my mileage it would be worth somewhere in the region of £8,000 now.

My intention is to keep the car until I can afford to get an S Works (which may be some time!) so here's to the next 50,000 miles!

Anyone know if BMW offer extended warranty?!

the MINI has gone...
