hey all! i haven't been posting much on the board, but having a blast reading the other postings...anyway i recently read in evo (the european car mag. that my brother reads all the time, and tells me that is the best car mag. out there) in a bookstore waiting for my friend to buy a book, but in it it talked about the limited edition MINI that would only be released in the states. there are only building about 1000 or so of these ( i could be forgetting a zero...as i was quickly scanning the article due to the sales lady giving me a 'look'), and it's for some anniversary about a famous rally race... does anyone know about it? can you guys help me find more info. on it? it would be priced pretty hefty, but hey if you want a limited ed. then go for it...right? i thought it looked pretty awesome, so i'm waiting for my brother to actually get his new evo mag... so i can rip the page out...but he's taking way too long. i could buy the whole mag...but all i want is the article. evo also talked about the new convertible MINI and showed a pic. but to tell you the truth...the hatchback MINI is way more appealing to me. thanks for the help!

Anyone know why it's only being released in the US because as it said in the article many things on/in it celebrate it's British heritage and lineage, and it's being released to commemorate a British racing triumph.

Is it because it was purely an initiative by MINI USA with no involvement from the MINI company (International/BMW AG) as a whole?

Probably marketing... that way it will sell... ppl will go WOW only here in the US... and only 1000!! then next year they will release something else in europe for the anniversy of another Mini... since MINI did win how many years straight in Rally...
