how many miles do you expect to get out of your mini?

seriously, how many miles do you think the mini will be good for. some cars (like my 87 pontiac firebird) went down the drain at 75,000. my (94 nissan altima) is still going strong at 110,000. and my saturn lasted 230,000 miles. i have never owned a european car before. should i be prepared to have a clunker on my hands at 100,000. or will it be good well over 100,000. i know these are new cars. and few if any have that many miles on them. but that is why i am asking. what is your quess on how this car will be when the miles start adding up.

I expect to eak out 120K to 130K in 5 years. If repair bills are minimal at that time, I will keep it for longer..

also have any of you have experiance owning a BMW. do they go well over 100,000. maybe even over 200,000. i guess that is the best way to gauge how the mini will preform in its old age.

My saturn went to 234,000 miles until I sold it last month. I plan on getting at least 100,000 out of my mini over 7 years. I'd like to think it's realistic, but who knows since minis haven't been around that long!

Coming soon to a road near you!

My saturn currently has 114k and I can't wait to ditch the thing after 8 long boring years!!! And the Mini is waiting transport as I type.

Anyway, I figured the same thing -- drive this thing forever and give it to my daughter in ten years.

I bet it won't drink oil like my Saturn currently does.

My CRX Si did over 200K. I would love to see my MINI get there without loosing too much. I agree with jonkudla... if the repair $$ stay low, I will keep it longer....

Trust not the heart of a man for whom old clothes, and the Mini, are not venerable!

At the end of the day the car should keep going as long as you want it to. There are still many of the early classics going after 45 years and we all know people who own vintage cars of some kind - like my Austin A35 which is coming up to 50 years old - see my gallery.

Engines can always be rebuilt and I am sure there will be suppliers of all things MINI around as long as there has been, and still is for the mini.

I am thinking about selling or trading mine by the end of the warranty. I will upgrade to a new MCS.

Maybe they will be better by then.

I've been doing less than 1000 miles a month on my S, so I'm thinking I'll have it for at least five years. At that time, there might be a really new S, and I'll trade it in. Or, put some money into it, so it will go another five years.
My brother has managed to get 200,000 miles each, out of his last two cars, a Chevy Beretta and a Chevy Blazer. I had 60,000 on my Sentra, when it was totalled, and 63,000 on my CRX, when I got the MINI; don't know that I've owned a car with mileage much higher than that.

I typically keep my cars 6+ years, my Volvo is a '95 (140k miles) which I'm rolling over to let my 16-year old son drive. My daughter (who's 13) is already saying "I Love my MINI", but I'm hoping I'll either a) still have the Volvo or b) be able to buy something else for her. I was thinking of the Passat for awhile which she was thrilled with, but she's keen on the MINI.

If all goes well, I'm hoping to keep the MINI for a long, long time, "touch" wood.

I just sold my 1994 325i; 10 years, 110,000 miles.
Out of warranty, I budgeted $1000/yr for maintenance/repairs, but ended up spending between $300-$600/yr. There were problems (mainly with the cooling system), but nothing major. The car was sound structurally, engine was strong and burned no oil, and transmission felt fine.
In the 10 years, I never had to call Roadside Assistance / AAA. The car failed me only one time - the battery died in my garage. The original battery lasted 9 years. I also drove on the original suspension for 8 years.

BMWs are built to last.

In the 70s and 80s if you got 100k out of your car that was really good. Today, just about any car will make to 100k with very little if any problems. I plan on getting about 120-140k from my MINI. The more the merrier!

I've got a 15 YO Honda Integra with 140K on it. Still runs solid. Hope for at least as good from the MINI.

Personally, in the region of about 13,000 - 14,000 miles, then it'll be chopped in for an S.
