Offline | long commute break in procedure? hello, i plan on picking up my 04 mcs on tuesday. i've read the discussions on how to properly break in the mini, but i'm not sure if the same rules will apply due to my long commute. i live about 50 miles away from where i work, so the ride back and forth will be all highway miles. i know people have mentioned changing gears, not using cruise control, and not driving at the same speed for too long. should i extend how long i break my car in too? are there any other things i should do to properly break the car in? thanks for your help --jeff |

Offline | Re-read the manual when you get the car, but basically you've already mentioned everything you should do. Just Vary engine speed and actual speed and you should be fine, and so after about 2 weeks, you'll be all broken in. The only thing I could think you could do extra (besides maybe taking it easy for 3 full weeks, just to be sure, so you get 1500 miles) is do some city driving just to mix it up. You'll want to take the MINI on all your regular errands anyway, just make sure you do. I really wouldn't worry about breakin though really, its not like its hard to follow the directions MINI gives, its just hard to not stomp on the gas after keeping the revs down for so long. Magic 8-ball was correct. All be in awe of Magic 8 ball. |
