Offline | MINI comes 56th in JD Power 2004 Well according to the JD Power survey this year of 24,000 people owning cars with 51/02 plates, each of the following cars are better than the MINI! And that's just the Supermini category!! What's gone wrong?

Offline | I wouldn't disagree with that ![]() Basically it the car's impracticality and the build quality that really lets the MINI down ![]() In a couple of years time the position should rise dramatically as the build quality of later cars has vastly improved ![]() MINI, RX8 and MX5 - Done those............. Offline | Doesn't surprise me, and probably wont surprise the people at MINI too much either. Things are getting better, that's the positive side of it. Our trials and tribulations living in a "bleeding edge" eco house... Oxley Woods Living |

Offline | The problem with these surveys is personal expectation from a car. People who buy cars like Skoda's and Hyundai's generally have lower expectations of their cars. For example somebody who buys a Hyundai and it rattles and falls apart is probably less likely to complain than somebody who has spent a lot more money on a Merc or a MINI. |

Offline | Looking at this website now and the cars around it in the table I don't think it's a bad result ![]() It's got the same rating as a Mk IV golf and I was mightily impressed with my golf. Good to see Mazdas are all very high on the list ![]() MINI, RX8 and MX5 - Done those............. It's now TTime ![]() ![]() Unofficial MINI2.com bean counter |

Offline | Agree with BENJ and goonery, the survey only relates to people filling the survey in and re-iterates what Quentin Wilson said this morning on the radio, the fact that Skoda's generally start off with such low expectations. And lets be honest, Skoda owners are probably going to drive fewer miles anyway than MINI drivers and see it less of a hobby and more of a device to get you from A to B. You only have to look at the number of posts on this site to see how much more obsessive people are who own MINI's and whether things are ok or not. Wonder how many posts there have been discussing creaking seats/boot rattles in a VW/Skoda forum? As an ex Skoda and current MINI driver, I can see both sides. ![]() |

Offline | Yet J.D. Power's APEAL study states that the Cooper is the best car of the compact category (at least in the U.S.): http://www.jdpower.com/cc/auto/relea...ID=788&CatID=1 |

Offline | I'm very suspicious of the JD Power Surveys although I think it does have good intentions. The manufacturers found out years ago in the US that the easiest way to increase your JD Power ranking was to put more cup holders in the car - and bigger ones if possible. Kind of says it all about folk who fill in these sort of surveys. "Do try to keep up Nigel!" |
