Will I upgrade to JCW MCS or the new Golf R32???

Hi fellow MINI owners,

Forgive my question. Right now I have the base Cooper and considering to upgrade to MCS w/JCW package. Considering the "cost" package plus other options ; it will come close to the pricing of the new Golf R32 which have good package as well.
Though I did not have a chance to test drive the R32 yet, auto magazines report
says it's very good.
Any comments is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Also I don't think that the steering and handling of the R32 is quite up to that on the MCS.

The downside is that if you drive the R32 properly (fast everywhere ) you are only going to achieve about 12 to 15 mpg.

If cost of fuel is not an option.......

Hi Max

Thanks for pointing out the "fuel economy" factor. Somehow when my emotion run high
I tend to discard "reality". Looking at MCS you can have both two worlds--fun factore & fuel economy--plus the uniqueness of the MINI. One advantage I can see on the R32 is it's rear cabin space and trunk capacity.

(oh my, I need to make-up my mind!)

Thanks,

ejkd

Go for the mini, not saying that just because i own one, but i think a car says alot
about the person that drives it. to me the mini says that the people who own them
are fun lovin, sociable and happy. The golf, regardless of model, say nothing.

I've had probably 30 hours in the drivers seat of an .:R, and even against the MCS, I would choose the MCS.

Forgive me if I'm mistaken, but the R32 isn't new. It's based on the Mk IV platform.

The new Mk V GTI is due out very soon and will have 200bhp. Judging by the new golf platform which handles very well IMO this will be a craking car. You won't have to wait that long either for the new R36 which is due out in December.

If you can hold on I would wait if I were you before committing. These are a pair of cars I think that could raise the bar higher

Martin,

You are right. My emotion should hold on.
Thanks for reminding me about the R36 ---but then again---I might miss the MINI

Thanks,

martin L how come your not on the mazda site? hehe. saw one yesturday they look alright. specially the 2 ladies in it! hehe.

the golfs looks cool, just the front is a squeeze i think, the dash is huge! its really a 2 seater in my opinion that way you can slide th seat back to escape the dash. u can fit 4 but its not as comfy. huge boot!

I'm registered there but it's a tad too straight laced

I feel more comfortable in here. When I've been hanging around in here for more then two years it's difficult to give up

I've made so many good friends and met so many people via MINI2 it'll be stupid for me to give it all up just because of the car I drive

I sat in a Golf Mk V a few weeks ago with the salesman - didn't have time for a test drive. What really overwhelmed me was how cheap and nasty all the plastics were compared to the Mk IV.

"So, what do you think?" said the salesman after I spent a minute or two pressing switches.

"Umm, Is the interior made by Airfix?!" said I.

hey ejkd, I saw (heard) a R32 this morning for the first time. It sounded pretty tough and I have read good reviews on them, but the look of the Golf is kinda played out to me.

Brutus will sound just as bad in a couple of weeks and will always outstyle the competition.

Bad Brutus, bad Brutus...
