If your after an S, the new hyper blue looks OK. Sort of a royal blue metallic, nice colour
So black eyed purple is called BEP in the US? So where is it called purple haze?

I fiind it odd that, if true, MINI would not have made mention of it in their internal documents to dealers detailing changes for 2005. I wonder if there's some confusion at the customer service level

Call or Visit your dealer and ask to see their 2005 spec sheets... no EB - just purple and hyper blue... I checked with 3 dealers - and EB is definately being removed... It may have been a last minute decision - I also find it odd that it's ok to get everywhere else in the world, but not in the US...

And I will admit that I may be wrong re: Black Eyed Purple vs Purple Haze - I just don't recall seeing the words Purple Haze in the dealer stuff I looked at.

Need to order an 04 EB this week!!!

given that it is such a popular colour, this doesn't seem to make a lot of sense

This is interesting.
All I can think is if EB is deleted then Hyper blue will be available on Cooper and S's from 01/05. This sounds like it will eventually happen anyway.

Good luck finding the model you want htrout

Thumbs down Erroneous

I've seen my dealer's O5 NA spec sheet. Unless U Candaians are being singled out (which I doubt) Electric Blue is NOT going away. It's Indi Blue that's being replaced by Purple Haze/BEP. EB is being offered on all models in 05, not just the S. The other new blue, Hyper, will be available on the S starting 1/05.

Your dealer is definetely uninformed. Rest EZ. EB is here to stay, for now. Jimbo

That's exactly what my dealer told me, but she said the HB would be available for my '05 MCS, which will be delivered around this August or September.

I hope they give EB the boot, that way EB MINI's will be more exclusive.

electric blue is not being killed...it will still be specific to the Cooper S, however, best i can tell, only in hardtop form.....no plans to take it to the cooper. indi blue is being killed to make way for purple haze.

hyper blue will be ready immediately for the Cooper S convertible ONLY....it will be added to the cooper convertible and both hardtop cars in january of 2005.

Hyper Blue, to the best of my knowledge, will be Cooper S only for the foreseeable future. (First soft top, the hard top as you say).

That was my impression too but MINIUSA's bulletin about the 2005 spec listed this:
For MY 05, the CooperandCooperS will have the following new exterior colors options:

• A24 – Purple Haze, replaces 862 INDI BLUE
• A25 – Astro Black, replaces 303 COSMOS BLACK
• A28 – Hyper Blue available 1/05
Note there is no reference to EB going away in the document.

i believe we are all agreed on hyper blue...but i am saying that i think the cooper S hardtop will eventually have both hyper blue, AND electric blue. ultimately, the cooper S hardtop will be the only car to carry electric blue, as the doc gabe references seems to infer. it IS a bit spotty, though, since electric blue is hardly mentioned at all!!

Unhappy How do these rumors start, Gabe?

I think uninformed dealers fueled this nasty rumor: Gabe is right--nothing in Mini NA internal documents leaked (or my dealer's 05 spec sheet) indicate that EB is gone.

MOF, it was expanded into the Cooper line. Not as exlusive as some may think .... JB

PS you HAVE to wait until 1/5 for Hyper Blue, regardless of what some dealers may say
