Last night, about 0230 hrs, 05/04/2002, someone broke into my house, nicked my spare key and drove off in my Mini Cooper. Never heard the alarm though. The reg is WR51 OOX, British Racing Green, White Roof, White 8-Spoke, White Mirrors. No tax Disc in Windscreen (could never get the one I bought to stick!!!!). I live in Bristol.

I am not a happy bunny!!

If any of you see it, please let me know. Answers to the name "Michael"

Name: Ciaran Darcy
Tel: 0117 9655413/07789 484788

Thanks.

I expect customer service is poor because the staff are always on MINI2.com!

Yep, its Elephant. I hope that the claim goes through ok.

As far as I can see, it would be better to have the car recovered with some damage...yeah? Total loss means me and my partner being a total financial loss!!

Here's hoping the thieves enjoyed their drive and have juts abandoned it somewhere.

Ciaran.

Really sorry to hear that
Hope it works out alright. Lets hope they either don't damage it and you get it back in good condition or they write (right?) it off and you get a new one.
Anyway, good luck.
I think I will hide my car keys on a night from now

Paul - Do you know if all thefts have been carried out with the theives in posession of keys?
If not, it may be useful to share the information on how to secure your vehicle... provided it doesn't turn into a theif's FAQ....

We keep our car keys all locked in the safe these days.
Another good idea is to have a London Bar fitted to your external doors - I'll give you 3 guesses why they're called "London" bars.

Now that explains a few things.

Smiffy, I hope you can do the right thing for a fellow MINI2.COM member.

Why would it be a total loss with comprehensive insurance which I am assuming is what you have Ciaran ?

Angry Total Loss?

because we got ours on finance (and couldn't afford the extra to take out the "Gap" insurance). So, if its a total loss, that means we lose the difference between market value (which I'm sure will be a lot less than what one would really get for the car) and what we owe MFC.

scene of crimes have been around and found nothing. they reckon it'll be used for burglaries over the weekend. God help the runt that took it if i ever get my hands on him!!

and of course, I'm sure whoever has it will drive the living s**t out of it....wouldn't you??!!

Thanks for all the condolences folks. Makes me feel a little better on a very depressing day!!
