Today I spoke with my MA about the new post-7/1 model. Although I could tell his statements were somewhat guarded, he did me give more information than miniusa corporate-speak could.

Here's my situation: mid-January I get my name on the S waiting list. It generally takes 3-4 months here in the Denver market to get to the order stage, due to high demand and such a huge market area (5 states, I dealer). I expected to place my order for my Indi Blue 04 S within a month, for perhaps a June build.

That, according to my MA, has been thrown out wit the old headlights All new orders--including those high up on the waiting list to get an 04--are automatically getting 05's. Those high up like me don't have to get on a new list: it grandfathers over. He told me that Oxford is winding down 04 production next month to retool for the 05 models inc the cabriolet so they can be in full swing by 1 July. So the 04 is moot, as is Indi Blue (sigh) Price increase is unknown. And he thinks the miniusa website will have reconfigured build capabilities by mid-late May. Sure would be nice to see a pic of a Black-Eye Purple MCS.

This is all I know right now. If anyone else on the cusp of 04/05 builds has talked to their MA in the last couple days (or plan to) please post what they said, all for our FYI. Thanks! Jimbo

US dealers will receive their allocations for July builds in the latter half of May, so it makes sense that the MINIUSA website configurator will be updated for MY 2005 specifications by mid-May.

Well now U can go to the Mini UK site's car "configurator" and at least see what Black-Eye Purple and Hyper Blue look like wtih B and W roofs, although I'm suspect of color accuracy. And I assume body color roofs will be available?? Jaime Tostada

Hope my june build gets the new dash & 3-spoke wheel. I think the new 170 HP engine is just too much to expect (grin).

The BEP looks MUCH darker than Paul's spy shots.
Would love to have confirmation on just what color it is!!

You should have been given a choice between the 2-spoke and 3-spoke when you placed your order. My understanding is the 3-spoke is what you will get unless you specify the 2-spoke.

I just received a production number for an 04 indi blue MCS. My dealer told me it will be a June build and I should get it late July or the beginning of August. The owners lounge has me listed "on order".

I really wanted indi blue and the additional 7hp with the 05's is not a concern for me. I also expect the 05 MCS's to be about $500 - $600 additional. So, I chose an 04.

Nah, you're just getting one of the last 04s thru fortuitous dealer allocation and factory build timing. I have no choice: mine is an 05. Well with the refinements at least the price hike will be worth something, unlike the mid-04 build year "accounting adjustment"
