I've seen a 400bhp Mini Cooper S!!!!!..... Been to AMD today to have my intercooler evaluated by these guys and was shown their Mini Cooper S, 302 bhp, with NOS 400bhp, they showed me the power figures on there rolling road. At one point they were putting so much power through the wheels that it blow the intercooler off and destroyed the front end of the car, when they shown me the remains of the intercooler I was flabbergasted. Although this car was to prove a point, these guys know what they’re doing, and I’d recommended them to anyone who wants that little bit more bhp. I did however ask a couple of questions which have been asked on this site; Can you run a One Click chip without running a smaller pulley?, This is not recommended as there would be far to much fuel and no gains in bhp would be made. If I run a bigger intercooler will there be any loss in boost? No because the smaller pulley is set to run a certain amount, when this pressure is reached a valve opens the other side of the intercooler near the throttle body to release any excess pressure. I’ve been asked if you’re using a bigger intercooler than standard that there’s a bigger volume of air needed to fill the intercooler, some customers have asked if there would be a loss of boost pressure at the outlet end of the intercooler due to the extra size. Hope that makes sense? Graham ![]() |

They showed me a charge cooler that had been made up using an original intercooler with a water jacket built around it. In my experience charge coolers only work up to 14psi after this they can’t cope with the high boost temps, there’s heat soak to consider plus these systems are very expensive to produce. | The One - Click gives no extra BHP without a smaller pulley???????????????????????? If that is the case they are selling the One Click on false pretences because their ads say 8 BHP and don't mention the pulley - they also say that consumption and emissions will be maintained/improved??? Cometh the Hour, Cometh the MINI |

| Do they upgrade the gearbox too, whilst running at 300bhp..??? My understanding is the gearbox is rated to 250bhp........300 or 400 bhp will shorten the life expectancy by quite a large amount.......if they do, what do they alter....??? Also bear in mind the gearbox is incredibly compact, and that by increasing the gear facewidths (which you would need to do to cope with the higher output) the overall length of the 'box will also increase. Max, No I didn’t get to drive the MCS, I believe the engine was having some problems plus the front bumper was hanging off!!. It’s still running a standard bottom end but I was told the engine was very tried, not surprising really with that BHP. wobert123 Not sure about the gearbox, but I’m sure they’ve done a little something to improve it with that power MINIALEX, The One click chip needs the pulley to work effectively, I believe they’ve designed it to work together, personally I see no point in using half the tuning parts. The chips been designed to run more fuel with a different advance curve, so you need the pulley to get the full benefit Graham ![]() |
