Offline | Choosing Options I'm looking at getting a new Cooper, but could just about stretch to a fairly poverty spec Cooper S. I've heard that a/c is an essential when it comes to resale, but its a £700 option that I'm not too worried about and definately couldn't afford on an S. Would I be better off spec-ing up a regular Cooper, and giving up on the S? Are there any other 'essential' options (apart from TLC)? All advice appreciated. ![]() |

Offline | Lease your S & get all the options you want. As few miles per year as possible, - lowest amount due at signing with the best rate offered. ==> You'll be selling her for a near profit when ready. ![]() |

Offline | That said, I agree with your instincts, dan2247.... I know the wife & I would both rather drive a fine Cooper with a/c, than an MCS without. ![]() Good luck, all around. Either way, - you'll be quite content in your MINI. |

Offline | The MINI comes with a/c. The a/c option is for the automatic a/c which is not essential at all, it's just a convenience. I don't have it on my S. The manual a/c works great. ![]() |

Offline | A/C is an optionin the UK. The basic MINI in the states has several "packs" added to it before we even start adding options. Myself - I'd get a no A/C S before I got a Cooper. I'd also delete power locks, power windows, glove box, etc and put the lightest wheels avialable on it. Makes me wonder how much weight would be saved taking out hte back seat? Obviously I'm a small, light, and fun guy. However, my wife got final say in our specs, so not only do we have A/C (not a choice here) but sunroof and heated seats. I also keep cars for 10 years, so don't worry much about the residuals. |
