Offline | Which Other Cars Are Most Jealous of your Mini Just wondered...I have noticed that everybody out there loves the new mini (even the thieves that nicked mine). However, I do often detect a hint of jealousy from two other cars in particular: The Ford Puma (coz the Mini Cooper hammered it in a comparative test in Auto Express or Top Gear...can't remember which). And... The (new) VW Beetle (can't figure that one....maybe its because the Mini took over from it in the Desirable&Affordable stakes or maybe they're just regretting buying a golf in drag). What other cars do you think don't like the Mini? ![]() |

Offline | There's nothing more satisfying than pulling up next to a Saxo VTR or VTS and seeing the face of the spotty, baseball cap-wearing scally with his bassbox booming just drop as his equally scally schoolie girlfriend with sovereign rings and huge hoop earings gives an admiring glance. Absolutely priceless!! |

Offline | I gotta say...that is such a bang-on description of your typical VTR/VTS driver! You just forgot the eye-ring, nose ring, tongue piercing! Definitely the most handsome Mini Cooper driver in the Southwest (if not the world)! |

| MINI2 Master | Oi... that's not where my ring is!! ![]() ![]() I got to admit the image of VTS owners has plummeted over the last two years. Its a shame, the car was a star when it first came out, but now all the oiks have made it less than desirable, can I say "21st century Nova". I never understood the need to change the looks of a good looking car, if you want to spend money on it then do the performance but keep the car looking more or less the same (either that or spend the money on a more expensive car). My wife asked me when I started going on about the MINI in the middle of last year, that I was only allowed to get one if it didn't turn into another boy racer car! I said "don't worry MINI owners are a different type of boy racer!" What ho! ![]() |

Offline | My mate and I both finished Uni last year, the first thing I did when I started my new job was to order my Cooper. My mate was extremely jealous so not long after mine was delivered he went and traded in his VW Scirocco GTII for a 51 plate ex-demo Lupo GTi. Thinking he had outdone me by getting a car that was marginally faster than mine he was aching to show our girlfriends' mates his beloved Lupo, when he mentioned he was in his new car the first thing to come from the girls was "Oh, Chris are you in your MINI?" The poor boy was gutted, the girls go for the MINI every time because most of them haven't got a clue about 0-60 times. Anyway he's now got 3 points on his licence thanks to his Lupo. Tee hee!!! ![]() |

Offline | Have you already heard that the PT Cruiser gets the Cooper power plant as basic engine? Thatīs at least a marketing step for Germany. The 1.6 ought to need a lot of reving to propel that huge fridge, huh? Klaus |

Offline | Curiously, two friends with Z3s are changing them for the Cooper-S. I have to say though, as one of the 30 somethings trying to hang on to those last gasps of teenage-cool, the MINI is in danger of becoming the balding-hairpiece GTi round here! (Just enough room in the boot for my telescopic zimmer frame). Excellent description of VTS owners - I don't dare look when they scream up and hammer the brakes at the last minute for the traffic light GP - In London, you never know who's carrying a gun! My pet hate are the transit-van drivers who seem to be permanently trying to get into the boot. |
