United-Kingdom help - advice needed

hello

this is my first post, i have taken delivery of my mini cooper this week and i love it except it is very bouncy over bumpy roads. ( on smooth surfces its fantstic )

could this be becuase i have chosen the 17 inch alloys like on the cooper s or is this a general charecteristic of the car

also what about the sports suspension that comes on a cooper , could that be the problem.....can i switch it off or have it adjusted?

thanks for any advice

dee

hello and welcome to m2
unfortunately a bumpy ride is normal
i have 17's s spoke + run flats
it does make for a rough ride
but the satisfaction of the twisty bits make up
for it
go on a mini2 run and you will understand.....

Hi and welcome to MINI2.

17inch alloys do make the ride more jittery over bumpy surfaces.however changing down to 16"s does improve the ride and sadly you cant adjust the suspension settings not even on the sports suspension plus,

Part of the MINI experience I'm afraid but worth it for the handling.

Your 17" wheels with runflat tyres will not be helping but my ONE on 15" wheels with normal suspension can be bumpy too.

..and no you can't turn off your sports suspension but I'm sure you'll get used to it

WOW

Thank you so much for the quick responses

Sounds like I just need to learn to live with the bumpy ride or establish where all the smooth roads in london are........not many of those here!

Perhaps I should of gone for smaller wheels but i love the look of the 17inch ones.

Another question, my previos car was a pug 206 cc which i had a visibility pack, ( auto lights and wipers ) i specified this on my mini but i can only get the wipers to be auto are the lights not included in this pack......?

i promise no more silly questions after this my future posts will bring added value to the forum and when i find time to stop driving due to excitement of my new car I will read the manual i will....i promise !!

Haha - no question is silly

The visability pack to my knowledge doesn't include auto lights.

This isn't an option on the mini atm.

Enjoy your car

Have you checked your tyre pressures? One possibility is that your tyres are over inflated.
My Cooper was initially bouncier than expected until I checked and lowered pressures to the recommended values!

Welcome to MINI2 and to MINI ownership. In a couple of weeks you'll forget about the "rough" ride.
