2005 color options

In earlier press releases I read that the new Hot Orange color would only be available for the new cabrio ... very disappointing for me because I would like to order a 2005 Cooper S hardtop in this color.

Now in the MINI Product Planning and Strategy Dealer Bulletin, 2005 MINI Hardtop Model Year Changes, it says -

"•318 - Interior Surface Body Color. Now the dash and door panels are available for the Cooper
S in Hot Orange, Cool Blue, Hyper Blue, Chili Red and Liquid Yellow. (Cooper S Only)".

Does that mean Hot Orange will be available for the 2005 Cooper S hardtop???

Anyone know for sure?

Now, that wasn't very nice was it?

So can your "official sources" explain the MINI Product Planning and Strategy Dealer Bulletin, 2005 MINI Hardtop Model Year Changes bulletin statement? It specifically says interior surface body color???

TIA

Hi ACS,
Paul M runs this site and knows what he's talking about.
The bulletin you are talking about could be describing the Cooper S Cabrio which will have the option of having interior plastics the same colour as the exterior paint

I'm not calling anyone out ... I probably know the least about Mini topics out of everyone on this forum I'm just trying to find out what ever I can because I'll probably order my new Mini soon and would be mad if I have to settle for a different color only to find out Hot Orange will be available later ... you know what I mean?

At first I though the same thing about the bulletin, but it says "2005 MINI Hardtop Model Year Changes"??? That's why I'm cunfussed now.

My best guess, and that's all it is, is that cool blue and hot orange will be exclsuive to the cabrio models for at least a couple of years.
This might be changed for different markets eventually

I just like the smiling pig. It came from a joke about the three little pigs. It's in an e-mail and I don't know how to attach it and still have the Pig moving.

Really close to placing my order for a 2005, one last plea ... does anyone have any idea how I can get a Hot Orange MCS hardtop?

you could always get a respray - the flip flop/two tone paint job is quoted as a £3600 full car dealer respray so assuming the orange paint would be cheaper than the 2-tone stuff it would be a bit cheaper than the price above

Thanks for the idea, but I'm not too keen on respraying a brand new car. Guess we'll just have to pick another color.

I'm in the same boat here, hot orange is a wonderful color and would liven up the relatively limited pallet available on the Mini (hard top). The orange at least has enough spark to it that it doesn't make the car "too cute" like the other bright color choices do. (a la yellow & electric blue)

I've considered the respray route too, getting an all black S and having just the body done hot orange and give it white stripes... but I have reservations about the quality of a dealer respray and how thorough they will be with the disassembly / reassembly. (even though it would make my cooper that much more unique)

Unless I can alleviate those concerns, I'll probably settle upon the Dark Silver / White combo with white wheels & taillights and add some aftermarket stripes.

Mini needs an Individual Program like BMW.

They sell too many cars at the manufacturer to have any kind if custom program, just wouldn't work for those who want our cars in the next decade. Sorry to be rude, but it's true.

They could still open up the color offerings.
It wouldn't cost them any more time or money to allow you to get Astro Black on an S for example... but they wont.
Offering Hot Orange only on the Convertibles is just a silly tactic to make the car "special"... I would have thought the retractable roof would have been enough.
