NOOO.....My mini is damaged

Yeserday, i was heading along a local road when i met a gritter coming the other way who was gritting over what i think must have been a spillage.
Anyway, instead of gritting underneath/behind the gritter it was gritting out to the side onto the lane going in the other direction (i.e where i was). As a result he sprayed the front of my month old mini with sand/grit/stones and causes a broken windscreen and a load of stone chips. Boy was i annoyed

I was in getting a quote today to find out what will need to be done. And this is what the guy is quoting for:

New Windscreen
Repaint Bonnet
New Bonnet Stripes
New Driver Side front light
New Driver Side chrome light surround
Repaint front bumper
New Driver Side Spot light
New Driver Side Fog light
New chrome grill (upper and lower)
New Black Driver Side wheel arch surround
Black trim for bumper.

Some how i don't think this is going to be cheap.
I have however been in touch with the council and they are going to send me an incident form to fill out which will then go to their insurance company.

Has anyone had any experience with the council for something like this? Are they likely to pay out?

I can't believe how much damage has been caused on my beloved mini.

Welcome to my world GAM. I'm currently having my car repaired and it's a nightmare! I'm thinking of buying another car or even a scooter (don't laugh) for town, and leaving the MINI at home safely tucked away.

Best of luck with getting it fixed!

Same thing happened to me, but luckily with little damage. I know from experience that it is the councils job to maintain the condition of the roads, among other things. any damage caused due to them not maintaining the condition or when maintaining you can claim against.

My auntie ripped her tyre walls on a pothole once, I know its slightly different, but she claimed quite easily.
