Angry Oh no my first accident......

Travelling to work this morning when the unthinkable happened.

The car in front of me, well basically her bonnet flew up , she went from lane to lane cuz she couldn't see . Did my best to avoid her but bang.....

Think I'm going to cry

Guessing you are ok?

Is it body work only as it looks like you managed to get to work, don't cry it probably could have been worse.

How was the bonnet lady? Doesn't sound as though here was a lot you could do, bad luck.

Oh goodness....

That looks really bad, but hopefully only aesthetic. Can you open the bonnet at all? Or is it just locked in place? Hopefully it hasnt pushed the engine back or anything

I think it looks worse than it is, new bonnet , wing, bumper etc...

The lady in the Alfa was ok too, albeit shook up.

I'm a bit peed of by Direct Line insurance not letting take my car to Mini to get it sorted

No I can't open the bonnet at all.....

A mechanic where I work had a quick look at it, seems to think it's not too bad

Why won't they let you take the car? Are they saying MINI aren't approved, or just being awkward.

Thought bonnets wee supposed to have safety catches on them.

Didn't look like chili red - oh what do I know??? Must be the sunlight.

Seriously though - I'm glad your ok, it just goes to show you never know what's going to happen.
Hopefully Direct Line will get you get your MINI repaired ASAP, hope everything works out ok. My mom currently is claiming on her insurance for her MINI and she can't get it repaired until an inspector's had a look at it either.

They want their own assessor to look at it first

You can insist that the car is fixed by a bmw approved garage. I would do this if you can, as i had no end of problems when a different repair company bodged the fixes after my ding. Outside garages seem to have a problem matching paint colours, particularly the laquer...

Oh that's awful, good luck with getting it fixed where you want. My insurance (Diamond) were like Direct Line and wanted their own assessor to see her first, but i got two quotes from two seperate dealers - they went for the cheaper one funnily enough! Just refuse to get it done anywhere else, you get a nice little certificate saying that it has been done at BMW, which is great esp if you want to sell her at the end of the day and then you have proof that the repair was done "properly"! Glad you're ok

firstly sorry to hear about your experience, secondly im glad your not injured.

in the past ive dealt with insurance approved repair centers. ive had mixed results. in some cases broken trims and incorrect paint matching. In one case my scenic went back 4 times until i was satisfied with the work. With my MINI the only people touching are going to be BMW / MINI approved workshops.

Stand firm and state that you decide where your car goes, not them. Its all well getting a piece of paper from an accident repair center, but i wouldnt want to use that to satisfy my BWM / MINI warranty for body and paint.

my MINI just went into the body shop for roof damage repair. It wasnt a BWM bodyshop but it was an approved BWM center. I got a neat little certificate from BWM / MINI for warranty of the work done.
