If you're able to find discounts and rebates that's awesome.

Here in the U.S., the cars (if we are lucky) are selling at full price. Then (for the not so lucky), some dealers are adding on $2000 worth of accessories or in some cases just charging $700 for floor mats. In either case, just trying to inflate the dealer profit.

So that's excellent if in Germany, you can get the cars at even a minor discount.

Could you share a little about what kind of incentives MINI is offering you?

Here in Germany the BMW-dealers sell Minis normaly at full Price,
if you sell them your old car, changing to Mini.

Selling no old one but buying at cash, there may be
a discount of 3% or as I heard sometimes 5%.

But there also exists a "Journalistic-Rabatt", which is
about 12%, even to the Cooper S !

No discount even when buying in cash!

The first time I walked into my dealer's showroom, I asked her the following questions:

Q/ What discount would I get if I were to pay for the whole thing in cash in one lump sum without trading in my old car?
A/ No discount as the demand is very high for the MINI (or something in that line)

Q/ What options/freebies can you throw in instead of a discount?
A/ Non as the demand is very high ... etc.

In the end, I bought my car from my dealer for the following reasons:

- they can re-spray the roof and wing mirrors to whatever colour I want (apparently BMW-owned dealership might not be able to offer this service)
- they are local and have a good reputation for looking after their customers
- I wanted a MINI badly
- I could not be bothered to run around and haggle for discount (not very good at haggling)
- one tends to buy things from people you like - my dealer was great, and she did not flinch when I told her I wanted a lime green roof

BTW, I traded in my old car, had my registration number transferred to the new car, and got a good price for it with minimal effort and fuss. I did get a full tank of petrol, a MINI key ring and umbrella. Win-win all round.

May be I am just too easily pleased!

No discount on MINIs anywhere in Ireland at the moment.....I stuck with my local dealer, had bought my last 2 cars from them in the past, and the service was always great.....

Just beat the 100 posts mark there !!

Same here when we ordered ours. The guy might as well have said "what discounts?? Next please!!". Still to be fair, if there's a demand for your product, then they're in the strong position. I was in a sales job for a living at the time and fancies myself as a haggler. However, I could also tell when I was on a hiding to nothing and just didn't bother.

We did get a grand bottle of champagne though from **** Lovetts, Bristol.

And as someone said earlier, you buy from people you like...and Simon at **** Lovetts was very nice, helpful and seemed genuinely interested in us....and has been helpful ever since.

Definitely the most handsome Mini Cooper driver in the Southwest (if not the world)!
