Question Mystery Part: What is this?

I found this on the floor of my MINI when I got out to let my son out of the back on the driver's side. I took the photos of the mystery part in the location of where I found it. The key is there for a size reference. I felt along the underside of the seat and also in the front near the pedals up under the steering column to see if I could find where something could be missing.

I'd appreciate any feedback and thank you in advance.

Looks like a rubber floor mat to me?

How about a part number from the "mystery object", I'm sure some people on here could find out what it is from that information.

Thanks Paul.

I found a part number inside. It's: 51.45-8166683.

I looked it up in the ETK - didn't find it in the MINI sections, but did find that exact
part number as a floor lamp cover for a BMW 320i !!!!
picture looks like your part, too.

So how do you reckon a part from a 320i got into my MINI? I last had it in to the dealer about a month ago. I guess it could've been underneath my seat all that time, but I still would like to know how it got there. I'll have to call the dealer later in the morning to see if they have any idea.

Thanks for looking up the part cristo. I tried a search for the part number earlier in the day and came up empty.

I'll bet it migrated from a bmw to your MINI by way of a service technician.

I had a similar incident when a bit fell off my neighbours BMW and landed below my MINI, took me ages to figure out it was from their car not mine!

They probably took your Car on a "Test drive" to go to another dealer and pick up a part from their?
