will i be able to get optional equipment from the dealership?

ok well im looking to get a mcs in the near future. but im looking into getting a used one rather than a new. what i was wondering since i was buying used that i might not get every option that i want. so the question is can i get all the optional equipment from the dealership? (say i want the onboard computer, rain sensor, and navigation system but the mcs i buy doesnt have those, can i get those at the dealership?) thanks...

The answer is no. Theoretically you could get some of them but it would cost an absurd amount to have them installed and modified to fit in there. Cosmetic things can be done but once theres electrical involved it gets tricky.

I was told some things just cannot be done after the car has been built ie climate control. I had Parking sensors, side skirts, and the blue cloth changed to blue leather for an eye watering £2300 on top of the purchase price of £19995 (6 month old mcs). With hindsight I should have either ordered new or waited for the exact spec I wanted but you have to concede a bit when buying second hand, and I was too impatient to wait 3 months for a new one, particularly with the facelift model coming.

As MINI risudles are still so high I would always reccomend buying new and getting the car you want. Sure you have to wait but thats all part of being a MINI owner - ask the thousands of us on here who have gone through the torture period.

You really wont save that much buying a used car and then you have the uncertainty of how its been used and looked after as well as the fact that the warranty will be probably at least half used.

Go for the peice of mind option and buy new and get the latest spec to your requirements.

If by climate control you mean automatic air conditioning, you are wrong. My MINI gets a retrofitted AAC next tuesday and it doesn't even cost that much.

Maybe you can get things done differently in the USA but I was told by 3 Mini Dealers here that installing Automatic Air Con to a Manual Air Con mini was impossible and I therefore got my £1000 deposit back that I had placed on a Manual Air con Mini.

The AAC is a special offer from the importer and only costs me 500 euros. Cheap as soap, I'd say. My dads Mercedes had an AAC retrofitted years ago, so one might reckon, it's not impossible. After all, the tubing is there, all you need to add is some electronics.

Vron - My MINI doesn't even have manual air con now.
