Offline | ![]() ![]() ![]() !!! Got into a car accident last thursday! Was headed west on clarke road, and light was FULL ON GREEN for me, i had already entered the intersection and some flippin' old B'STARD in a ford f150 decides to make a left from the opposite direction 1.5 car lengths in front of me!! He hit my car and the suburban beside me almost head on. Both my airbags went off, the rad support/rad/bumper/hood is FUBAR'd and both headlights are gone. I'm ok i guess, my knee is a little sore, and i have a cut lip from the airbag, some slight whiplash and a slight ringing in my right ear. To all those who say MINI's arent safe, ![]() ![]() ![]() you, i practically survived a head on collision against a FULL SIZE pickup truck thanks to my car. Damn, Bella "Diablo" Cooper wasn't even a year old, i was going to throw her a birthday party and everything Now I might have to make funeral arrangements. If the car is a write off, i'm entitled to have a whole new car under the total replacement coverage on my insurance policy. The police estimated my damage to be about $15,000 Canadian dollars. Sorry don't know what that is in pounds or USD. I hope they dont decide to fix it, i know she just wont be the same ![]() Vice President - Simon Fraser Import Car Club Ex President NSNG: No Show No Go |

Offline | Oh, that's about 5 bucks, I think. No, no!! Okay, sorry!! I've got a bunch of Canadian cousins, and we routinely rib each other about stuff like that. Still, I am sorry for your loss, Mrtemp. It's awful. But I'm sure we're all glad you're okay... And that is the important thing. As for Bella, well, she did what she was supposed to do: Brought you joy when times were good, and when things turned potentially lethal, she took care of you to the utmost. If Minis love their owners as much as we love them, I'm certain she'd be fine just knowing that she did exactly what she was designed to do, kept you safe in a horrible situation, and represented the MINI name with grace and honor. So here's to Bella, and hopefully soon, to her worthy successor. Be well, and be safe, both of you. DW ![]() |

Offline | That is weird! Great minds think alike Seeing as how i may get a new car, when's the deadline for new orders before the facelift? I'm not crazy about all the proposed changes, especially the tailights. ![]() Vice President - Simon Fraser Import Car Club Ex President NSNG: No Show No Go |

Offline | Bella sacrificed herself to save you...I'm sure the last thoughts that echoed through her little ECU were "must save master...such a good master, always takes care of me...goodbye, cruel world" a moment of silence... |

Offline | [snip] Muted resignation? From a MINI?? I think not! MINIs are a bit more plucky than that. She's still got plenty of British spirit in her, after all. In those nanoseconds of computer processing, I bet she probably thought something more along the lines of, "Turn in front of us, will you? Right! We'll show you who's "built tough!" Bring it on, you w@anker! My driver will stand right up and get out of me, and won't [I[you[/i] look the fool then!!!" Stiff upper lip, and all that. Carry on... DW ![]() |

Offline | Yes thats exactly the kind of spirit she would have. Say for maybe some italian profanity mixed in there ![]() I got back from the insurance company, good news. The other "gentleman" admitted he was at fault, and my insurance isnt affected at all! The company will pay me medical bills and possibly some other stuff too. No word on the car yet though, the company's estimator person has yet to look at her. If the car is totalled am i completely off my rocker for wanting to have a memorial/funeral ceremony for my car? ![]() Vice President - Simon Fraser Import Car Club Ex President NSNG: No Show No Go |
