Offline | Bump! So we got our new mini on Friday, after getting used to it and taking it for a few drives I realised how cool a car it is. So I was out today dropping a few things of at a friends, on the way there I was just about to pull out of a junction when someone banged into the car, I thought I'd stalled but my girlfriend was saying someone just hit the car, switched the engine off and got out. The guy was someone I knew but I don't think he knew who I was, my mum works with him and being her car I knew she would be super mad if there was much damage. Looked at the car and all looked fine, lucky it was at such a slow speed at a junction, he pulled a bit of his front grill off and the front bumper on his car had a crack on it but other than that it looked fine so neither of us seen the point in going through all the insurance stuff. I probably should have taken his details to be safe incase there was some hidden damage but I wasn't thinking too straight. The black bumper trim at the bottom (under the reverse light) had come out a little but I pushed that in and all looked fine apart from a few small scrapes but they should polish out easily. Really lucky that it wasn't worse, put me off driving for a bit once I got home to let my dad check it over. But decided that I couldn't really have avoided it so not too think to much of it. Hopefully nothing like this (or worse) happens again. |

Offline | Goodness, that is a fright. Remember, Accountability! Friend of Mum or not, get all the info, just in case! In addition, you really have to be a defensive driver. Take on the mind set that everyone out there is an idiot. period. Never tail gate, keep away from any kind of mini-van, construction vehicle, or beater (they generally have nothing to lose of value and probably no insurance) or wannabe hot shot. Be alert at all times. You just never know when the bizarre will happen, but the best thing to do is take action to keep yourself out of a potentially foolish situation. That being said (the Mum in me) you were lucky and did the best you could. Your Mum ought to be proud! |
