Wow, I wasn't expecting such a big margin as that. Just as important is the MINIs
agility makes it less likely to hit anything in the first place.

Some people are like a Slinky ........ not really good for anything, but you still can't help
but smile when you shove them down the stairs

Interesting!!!

The following scenario happened to one of the members of our MINI club in Vancouver a couple of weeks ago, coincidentally it's about a collision between a MINI and a Ford F-150 . This is what he posted in our club forums :

"BUGGER!!!! Got into a car accident last thursday! Was headed west on clarke road, and light was FULL ON GREEN for me, i had already entered the intersection and some flippin' old B'STARD in a ford f150 decides to make a left from the opposite direction 1.5 car lengths in front of me!! He hit my car and the suburban beside me almost head on. Both my airbags went off, the rad support/rad/bumper/hood is FUBAR'd and both headlights are gone. I'm ok i guess, my knee is a little sore, and i have a cut lip from the airbag, some slight whiplash and a slight ringing in my right ear.

To all those who say MINI's arent safe, you, i practically survived a head on collision against a FULL SIZE pickup truck thanks to my car. "

Bloody good testimonial as to the crashworthiness of the MINI if you ask me

Its a picky point, but the new model of the F150 is much safer than the one shown in the comparo.

Now, whether is as safe as a MINI...???

That along with everything you can imagine is discussed in the comments section: http://www.bridger.us/2002/12/16/Cra...perVsFordF150/

Yes,
The highest number of deaths per 10,000 miles driven per car model are all for SUVs and Light Trucks in the US. I think the VW Jetta ranks safest, followed by Honda,Toyota, Volvo, and US Sedans. MINI wasn't ranked in the numbers I saw. Ford Explorer had I believe 3x as many deaths as the Jetta.
