| MINI2 Regular | How does the MC Sound? Just a quick question... How does the stock exhaust tone sound on the MC (from outside the car)? does it sound pretty nice as it is, or should an aftermarket exhaust be used? Thanks. 2004 MINI Cooper - Ordered 3/27/04 - Delivered 6/15/04 |

Offline | I think it sounds good, but depends what you like really. An aftermarket cone type filter will improve the overall sound of a MINI Cooper ten fold in my opinion. ![]() Our trials and tribulations living in a "bleeding edge" eco house... Oxley Woods Living |

Offline | I think the standard exhaust on both the One and Cooper sounds pretty good. It's got a surprisingly deep sound. I am after a new exhaust, not really for the sound aspect, but more for the looks. |

| MINI2 Master | The stock MCS exhaust is one of the best i've heard. Course I should be one-upping it with the JCW exhaust that I'm getting but I've never heard it. I would suggest asking your dealer, since they get stock MCS exhausts when doing a JCW install, if they can retrofit it to your MC. You might need a new bumper too for the center exhaust. But maybe they won't charge you for the exhaust. |

Offline | FYI I got to listen to a CVT MC at my dealership that was fitted with an aftermarket Borla exhaust. Not only did the car now sound like a race car (the tone of the exhaust is deep and growly enough to set off the alarms of parked cars), but it also gained a few hp to boot!!! I think however that when it comes to exhaust sounds, it really depends on your personal philosophy of what a car should represent to you. Some drivers like to announce to the world ahead of time that they are coming, hence a deep exhaust; others prefer the 'stealth' approach, and opt for the still-good but somewhat muted stock exhaust. As a daily driver, you could get tired of a loud exhaust sound day in and day out. Then again, maybe not ![]() |
