Offline | Dealer price gouging on 05's? Since Mini hasn't released pricing for 05's yet, I had to order my MCS with all of the pricing labled "TBD" (to be determined) on the sell sheet. I'm pretty fine with that but my question is: since I already dropped a deposit off and signed the agreement is the dealer allowed to just make up any price over MSRP that they want when it finally comes in?! I mean, since pricing isn't set yet then basically I have agreed to whatever price comes up that the dealer says What do you think? |

Offline | Isn't your deposit refundable? I know mine is, and if they suddenly told me that 2005s were going to be $5000 more than 2004s, I'd be getting my deposit back. Hyper Blue/Black 2005 MCS 8/3/2004 |

Online | Why didn't the dealer label the pricing as "MSRP"? If you sign a purchase order and a car is built per that order, the dealer doesn't have to refund your deposit if you decide you don't want the car. |

| vroooooommmmmm | When I put down my deposit for my '05 MCS the MA wrote it up based on '04 prices but she told me that obviously the price may change. She said they are either expecting no price changes on the S or very small changes in line with previous years. Also, my $500 deposit is refundable, and she clearly marked it as refundable on the sheet I signed. I guess if Mini came out with some really out of whack pricing I would have to cancel, but I really hope it doesn't come to that! ![]() Baxter '05 EB/W MCS |

| MINI2 Regular | Deposit Back "If you sign a purchase order and a car is built per that order, the dealer doesn't have to refund your deposit if you decide you don't want the car.' That may be true in California but it ain't true in Virginia. The buyer has the option to take back the deposit per state law. Even if everything is as ordered. I believe some other states have similar laws. ![]() ![]() |

Offline | my dealer indicated that he sells to those who special order the car at msrp. the markup comes from the dealer alloted vehicles after they load the car with all options and dealer add-ons. i have not seen anyone complain that the dealer marked up from the msrp on the car or otions from a special order. |

Offline | Depends on the dealer, quite a few out west mark up every car $500 to $2000,, depending on dealer. However, every one of these dealers will tell you what their markup is. If the dealer said will be sold to you at MSRP, then I'm sure that is what you will get (and it will be very easy for you to check). |

Offline | Terms & conditions of sales are normally printed on the order form which (in the UK) state that the price quoted can change but the customer must be notified 4 weeks prior to delivery and at that point can cancel the order and receive a refund of the deposit paid. Never ever heard of an order form which states TBD - that gives them carte blanche to charge what they want and in my book doesn't constitute a valid contract. Peter |
