United-Kingdom Programming Options when ordering (UK)

So is it general practice for dealers to offer you a programming option sheet so
that you can choose which features you want enabled/disabled ?
If not, I guess its up to the buyer to specify options required.
Perhaps it varies from dealer to dealer.
I understand that once you've taken delivery, if you want an option changing,
that you may be charged to do it (again dealer dependant), unless its in for
other reasons, and they fit it in at the same time.
Your thoughts/opinions/stories please !!

There's a list on the forum somewhere. Of course it is possible that the facelifted car has different options. For example, the new remote can open the boot only (perhaps an extra button), but it m ay be able to do other stuff.

My dealer never even explained what programable options were available before I picked mine up
Got the auto lock disabled for free though - just asked them to do it while the car was being serviced.

I think I,d prefer auto lock enabled actually. You can get another related feature enabled too - unlock when ignition switched off (aparently).

I asked for auto-lock and unlock to be set along with follow-me-home on the headlights when the car was in for warranty work. Also comfort opening (to replace the totally useless tailgate unlatching) on remote. I think the only other one I could have had was warning chime at 3 degrees external temperature.

They were going to charge something like £30 as I hadn't had it done prior to delivery, but I protested that nothing had been offered so the fee was waived.

No - unless things have changed in the last year or so.........

It's worth bearing in mind that the options available and the defaults have changed over time. My MCS was built on the last day of 2002 spec; our MC was 2003 so came with auto lock and unlock, comfort opening and cold weather chime actived at the factory.

Thanks, Restyle.

So you had auto-lock doors enabled, and follow me home lights enabled for 40secs.
Why not auto-unlock with ignition off?
This means that you must unlock the doors to get out of the car, right?

Yes, its all for Security,
My wife says it make her feel very secure in the car with this option enabled. To have the doors auto unlock on switch-off is not a secure thing to occur in various circumstances.
You only have to pull the Door handle twice to unlock anyway, so its no big hassle.
