I have to admit to making myself look sooo silly when out and about in my beloved Minnie Mouse. How many times have you waved, smiled or flashed another owner? How many times have they looked at you with horror on their faces?? I have to say that not many owners here in London play the game! How sad is that?!! Isn't it all part of the fun?
I completely agree with you. I always flash and wave. Every morning, I pass an identical car to mine and we always acknowledge each other. Its also quite handy in that it gives me an idea if I am running late, depending on where we pass!!
My colleague at work has a Smart, and even they flash and wave at each other.
So come on you lot, don't be so bloody miserable!!
It's not the size of your stick, but more the magic in your wand
I wave and flash almost all of the time. I get a responce most times but there are some very grumpy mini owners about
The best of my local mini's is a b/w with quad fogs. A flash from that is blinding. Also an old dear (must be 70ish) that give a really big wave every time we pass. She loves it
ive found that in London sometimes flashing lights can be missunderstood as a sign of annoyance. ive flashed a few in kensington and had a not so friendly reaction. However rurally its way more fun. I se the 2 same MINIs everyday on the way home and i wave and flash each day, its really amusing how we always meet on the same section of road
i also encourge my passengers to wave too, you get some great looks from other MINI owners when the whole car is waving at them.
I was out on a Testdirve of a MCS the other day, the salesman was just telling me that other mini's will wave at you, I though "oh oh salesman's banter" . And then guess what happend, I got a waved from an oncoming mini.
I was so chuffed, I frantically panicked and tried to wave back quikly enough so they could see.
I am definetly looking forward to waving and flashing other mini's when I get mine next year.
I flash or wave, or both and so does Mrs Wibbly when she's driving and we get a pretty good response The Kids wave like mad as well in the back and shout "MINI" as loud as they can, normally deafening us!
So if you're out and about in Redditch or surrounding area and see a Black JCW S - Give us a wave please cos we are being verbally deafened if the Kids are with us
------> I have a Gen1 Works S and I'm proud of it <------
Yes, flash and / or wave every time. Get a response most of the time, but it seems I'm much less likely to get any response if the other driver has a suit on! Bonnet stripes, especially combined with spot lights on the other MINI normally guarantees a good response.
I've had to give up on the classic Minis except for one late Rover Cooper, with exactly the same red with white roof and bonnet stripes as mine, that I sometimes see in Liskeard. Always get a good reaction there..

I used to flash a lot but found that most other mini drivers, if they did respond, waved. So now i wave at every Mini i see - i guess i get a 70-75% response, mostly form modified minis (stripes, extra driving lights etc) - I see on average 3 minis a day I guess
I dont always know if they are smiling as am usually travelling to fast
I have just drove for 25 minutes and in that time I have passed 8 minis.....I waved and flashed all of them.
Didn't get one response...miserable lot eh!
